Michael Wayne Crites will have to serve 38.5 years in prison before he is eligible for parole |
A Springfield man has been sentenced to life in prison for kidnapping and sodomizing a ten year-old boy two years ago.
A judge found Michael Wayne Crites, 28, guilty in August of Kidnapping, Forcible Sodomy, and Enticement of a Child.
Prosecutors say the victim was playing with friends near Jordan Creek on July 15, 2009, when Crites forced the boy to go with him to a wooded area near Hillcrest and Meadowmere, where he sexually assaulted the young boy.
Jordan Creek is a popular swimming spot for kids and some witnesses told investigators they had seen Crites lurking there in the past
Today Judge Calvin Holden sentenced Crites to life in prison (which is 30 years in the state of Missouri) on the forcible sodomy of a child less than 12 years old conviction and 10 years in prison on the kidnapping conviction. Those sentences are to be served consecutively (one after the other.) Crites was also sentenced to 10 years in prison for enticement of a child. That sentence will be served concurrent (at the same time) to the kidnapping sentence.
Crites will have to serve a little over 38 years in prison before he is eligible for parole.
