A 26 year-old Springfield man has been charged with forcible sodomy and kidnapping for an incident that allegedly happened on July 15th.
Prosecutors say that Michael Wayne Crites lured a ten year-old boy who had been playing with friends near a creek to a wooded area at Hillcrest and Meadomere where he sexually assaulted the boy.
Springfield police Sgt. Kevin Routh says the area is a popular spot for swimming for kids and some of them told investigators they had seen Crites lurking there in the past. The victim was taken to a Springfield hospital and treated and released.
Crites was arrested at his home this morning, and is being held in the Greene County Jail on no bond.
