A man who was charged with assault after shooting his roommate last year has pleaded guilty to lesser charges.

In April of 2013, authorities who were called to a shooting at 128 Fritts Way found Cornelio Tovar Rodriguez had been shot in the foot.  Rodriguez told investigators that he and Carmen Ramos-Herrera had been fighting when Herrera shot him.

Ramos-Herrera, who fled the crime scene, was captured during a traffic stop near Bois D'Arc shortly after the shooting.

Herrera, who had been held on $250,000 bond since his arrest, pleaded guilty to two counts of unlawful use of a weapon. He was sentenced to time served in the county jail, according to online court records.

The US Immigration and Customs Enforcement have placed a hold on Herrera.
