A man from Blue Eye has been charged with assault and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child after authorities responded to a 9-1-1 call late last month.

Court documents state that David Erik Chandler was allegedly intoxicated when he stepped on the necks of three children on April 30th.

Two witnesses told Deputy Nathan Boone that Chandler, 36, pushed two children, ages eight and ten, to the ground and then stepped on their necks. The witnesses say Chandler allegedly called the 10 year-old a n***er while he stepped on his neck.

The mother of a nine year-old boy told Boone that Chandler assaulted her son by "kicking him in the butt."

"While being transported to the Stone County jail Mr. Chandler made the statement to me "that little n***er is a trouble maker," Boone writes in the probable cause statement.

When Chandler was booked into jail, his blood alcohol level was .219....nearly three times the legal limit, according to court records.

Chandler, who is due back in court on May 20th, is being held on $50,000 bond.
