A man from Galena has been sentenced to seven years in prison in connection to an incident that injured Stone County Sheriff Doug Rader.

On July 22, 2013, authorities received a call from patrons and employees of Flat Creek Restaurant saying that Stephen Lee Perkins had hit several cars in the parking lot and fled.

When officers attempted to pull Perkins' truck over, he fled.  The pursuit ended when Perkins crashed his vehicle into a ditch on Pine Street.

When Perkins, 46, exited the vehicle he threatened Rader with a hay hook and in a scuffle bit Rader's leg.

Perkins, who also entered an Alford plea to misdemeanor charges of driving while intoxicated, was sentenced to 60 days in jail for that charge, which will run concurrent to the seven year sentence.
