A Kimberling City man was placed on probation after he pled guilty to charges of sexual misconduct with a child.
In exchange for that plea two counts of child molestation were dismissed against 59 year-old Myron Bill Martinez.
Proseuctor Matt Selby said the little girl, who was between 7 and 8 year-old, told investigators that Martinez tried to touch was naked when he attempted to inappropriately touch the little girl. Martinez told authorities that he recalled details that led up to the incident, but he was too drunk to remember exactly what happened.
Selby says that the outcome "prevents a young child from having to go through a trial, it finalized the situation and the family was agreeable to the outcome,” he said.
“He will also be a registered sex offender for life, will be in sex offender counseling for the full time he is on probation, he is not allowed to have any contact with the victim or any other child under the age of 16, and has a number of other conditions on his probation that substantially limit his ability to have contact with children.”
Martinez was incarcerated for several months preceding the resolution to the case.
