Authorities are investigating an arson fire that has destroyed accused murderer Jay Rothe's mobile home.

Fire Crews were called to the Country Squire Mobile Home and RV Park at Farm Road 112 (Norton Road) # 32 shortly before noon today (03-05-12.)  Several animals inside the trailer were killed and a nearby trailer may have also been damaged.

Rothe is facing several charges connected to Linda Riley's murder

Prosecutor's say Rothe killed Linda G. Riley inside the mobile home before he burned her remains in a campfire near Stockton Lake.  Yesterday Rothe was charged with second-degree murder, kidnapping and felonious restraint for the death of fifty three year-old Riley who disappeared from her W. Chicago Street house on February 27th under mysterious circumstances.

Riley was missing for a week before her remains were discovered

Court documents say Rothe told investigators he transported the woman's body to Aldrich, and burned her remains for between three to four hours while he fished.

Detectives found pieces of bone and other charred remains in the remnants of the fire, according to the probable cause statement.

This is the third murder in as many years to be committed in the 700 block of W. Chicago.  In January of 2009, six people, including the estranged wife of Stephen Rash, were charged in the murder conspiracy of the elderly man that happened in his home at 711 W. Chicago (the house next to Riley's.  All six have pled guilty to taking part in his murder, and five of the six have been sentenced.

In March of 2010, Kody Ray was gunned down on his porch at 716 W. Chicago, while several children were inside the house attending his little brother's birthday party.  That house sit across the street from Riley's house.  Two men are still awaiting trial in that case.

Anyone with information about the arson is asked to contact the Greene County Sheriff’s Office at 417-868-4040 or  9-1-1.
