Authorities in Republic are investigating the death of a 4-year-old girl.
Major Vernon Watson says officers were called to the Pinewood Park Apartments a little before 11:00 this morning (09-17-10,) and found the toddler lying unresponsive on a mattress. She was transported to Cox South where she was pronounced dead, according to Watson.
Watson would not comment on whether or not the investigation is centering on the allegation of the adults in the apartment that the little girl fell fell and hit her head in a bathtub last night. "They're conducting an autopsy on the girl tonight in Springfield. We'll know more after that."
