An eldrely woman has been charged with possession of a controlled substance at a correctional facility.

Betty L. Elder, 61,of Florissant, was charged with the felony on Monday. According to authorities, Elder set off the metal detector when she went to visit a prisoner at the South Central Correctional Center on Sunday and was asked to remove her boots.

As Elder was taking off her boots a plastic bag with 2 partially smoked hand rolled cigarettes that had a strong odor of burnt marijuana fell out.

Elder allegedly told cops that she'd smoked some of the marijuana on the way to the prison, but forgot the bag was in her boot and that she had no intention of delivering the drugs to an inmate.

with respect to Ms. Elder the ostensibly "elderly" lady---> 62 years of age is not elderly!
Can you even collect social security at 62?
