Three brothers charged with first degree assault in Douglas County last fall are now facing arson and burglary charges related to the crime as well.
Douglas County authorities were called to a home near Ava in September to investigate an assault in progress.
According to the probable cause statement, Eva Maples told detectives on the scene that James "Bo" Turley "threw her face down on a bed, held a gun to her head, poured gasoline around the bed, and told her he was going to burn her alive."
While investigators were trying to gather statements and evidence in the alleged assault, the house where the assault had taken place burned to the ground; the result of arson according to the state fire marshal.
Right before James Turley, Floyd Turley, and Michael Turley were to have their preliminary hearings, Douglas County prosecutor Chris Wade amended the original assault charges to include second degree arson and burglary.
Wade says, "I have made a plea offer in the cases, now it's just a wait and see deal."
All three of the Turley brothers have been bound over for trial. Their formal arraignment in Circuit Court is scheduled for tomorrow.
