Branson, Mo.- A woman was found dead behind a store on Branson Hills parkway last Saturday.
Police chief Kent Crutcher says a passerby using a service road behind Bed, Bath & Beyond spotted Jamie Lee Armstrong about 8:45 a. m. and contacted authorities.
Taney County Coroner Kevin Tweedy says he believes the woman died of exposure.
“It appears that there was an empty bottle of alcohol so we’re presuming she consumed some or all of that bottle,” Crutcher said. The woman may have lost consciousness after consuming the alcohol but that won’t be determined until toxicology results come back in about six weeks, said Tweedy.
Crutcher said no foul play is suspected in Armstrong’s death and he did not believe the woman was homeless.
Tweedy said it could take three to four months to determine the exact cause of the woman’s death.
