Highlandville, Mo.- Four teenagers were killed and two others seriously injured in a one vehicle crash late Wednesday evening in Stone County.
Troopers say 17 year-old Landon Potts lost control of a 1999 Chevy Silverado with eight passengers inside at 10:40 p.m. on Pleasant View Road just west of Highlandville. Potts’ vehicle ran off the left side of the road and slammed into a tree before overturning.
Lance Porterfield, Cody Uber and Logan Middleton, all 19 years-old, were killed in the crash. They were not wearing seat belts, according to the crash report.
Dylan Wright and William Rammage, both 19, were transported to Cox South in Springfield with serious injuries.
Wyatt Beebe, 18, and Tyler Rollings, 18, suffered minor injuries, according to Troopers.
A medical helicopter responding to the crash scene was damaged when it tried to land and encountered some power lines. No one on board the medical chopper was injured, according to a hospital spokesperson.
There will be a candlelight vigil for the victims on Sunday at 5 pm at Union Hill Church of Christ, according to Nixa school spokesman Zac Rantz.
These were the 86th, 87th, 88th and 89th traffic fatalities for Troop D this year.
