By Kathee Baird
Frank and Jo Ellen Wevers (1)Waynesville, Mo.- Investigators with the Missouri Highway Patrol says the deaths of a Kimberling City couple in May was accidental.

Authorities were asked to check on the well being of 58 year-old  Mary “Jo Ellen” Wevers, and 66 year-old Frank J. “Butch” Wevers III on May 27th after the couple had not been heard from when expected.  Investigators found the couples bodies inside and enclosed motorcycle camper on the parking lot of the Pulaski County Shrine Club in Buckhorn on May 27th.

On September 10, 2014, investigators were notified of the results of the autopsy, which indicated the couple’s death was attributed to asphyxiation due to carbon monoxide. During the investigation, officers noted that a portable generator, which was used to power the trailer, was located in close proximity of the Wevers’ trailer. They also noted that the positioning of the generator would have likely allowed the exhaust to filter back into the trailer.

The couple were in Pulaski County to attend the Mid-American Freedom Rally and concert over the Memorial Day weekend.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol assisted the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office in the investigation in the deaths of the couple.
