It's that time of year when more than just one hunt is going on.  In addition to Turkey season, the hunt is on for Morrel mushrooms.
There are no weight or size restrictions and the truffles of the region can fetch up to 25 dollars a pound for the fungi that is found between March and May in the Ozarks.
Some people are very guarded about their favorite hunting spots, others will gladly point you in the direction of their latest harvest.
One Stone County resident, who does not want to reveal his favorite hunting spot, estimates he harvested between 11 - 1200 of the mushrooms last year.  He says this years numbers "are way down."
He says the unique flavor and versatility of the mushrooms keep he and his family hunting for the "shrooms" year after year.
