Gladys M. Egan (mug shot SCSO)

The woman at the center of the controversial firing of a Reeds Spring police officer last summer has been charged with stealing from a program associated with the police department.

According to the probable cause statement, Gladys M. Egan, 40, of Reeds Spring, allegedly wrote checks to herself from the Explorer for $570.00  Egan had only been authorized to withdraw $100.00

A group leader of the program told authorities that she and Egan were the only two people authorized to conduct transactions on the account.  Police officer James Rhoads writes in court documents that Egan also allegedly failed to deposit $200 from two fundraisers held for the program last fall.

Egan, who reported that her adult daughter was being held against her will by former Reeds Spring police officer Chris Lackey and his wife last August, was released from the Stone County jail after posting $1,500 bond.

I've known this woman for years. She is toxic and should never be trusted. This story is of no surprise. She has destroyed many families.
