Kimberling City Mayor's Home Destroyed In Weekend Fire:

A fire early Sunday (01-05-14) morning destroyed the home of Kimberling City Mayor Joe Schrodt.

When crews with the Southern Stone County Fire Protection District arrived at 8 Midview Drive about 4:30 a.m. the house was fully engulfed in flames.  Twenty five firefighters from Southern Stone and another three from Western Taney County battled the blaze for about four hours in the blisteringly cold weather.

A neighbor told firefighters that Schrodt and his wife were on vacation at the time of the blaze.  SSCFPD spokesman Eric Nielsen says Schrodt stated he was glad that no firefighters or neighbors were injured and that "everything else can be replaced."

Southern Stone County Fire Chief David Gyger does not believe that this fire is related to the recent spate of arson fires that have been centered around Reeds Spring.
