A Reeds Spring man who was charged with 10 counts of child molestation in 2012 is now facing 28 sex charges involving children after his cases were consolidated last week.
In March of 2012, two girls told authorities that John Robert McLaughlin, 74, molested them from 2003 - 2005. In June of this year, McLaughlin was charged with 16 counts of statutory sodomy and 2 counts of sexual misconduct with a child for allegedly having oral and anal sex with a male victim from 1996 - 2009. That victim is now 20 years-old.
According to court documents, McLaughlin allegedly admitted to the abuse, which happened at his home, when he was interviewed by authorities in April of 2012.
His trial is scheduled to begin on February 22, 2015. If convicted, he could be sentenced to life in prison.
