A change of judge has been granted for one of two teenagers charged with first-degree murder in the deaths of a vacationing Michigan couple who were killed near Lampe in January.
Senior Judge Miles Sweeney of Greene County will preside over the case against Christopher Allen, 16, who is also facing charges of robbery and armed criminal action.
Allen and Anthony Zarro, 17, ran away from the Lives Under Construction Boys Ranch near Lampe and allegedly broke into a neighboring lake home where Brian and Susan Brooks were vacationing.
A neighbor, Rick Balsley, saw the boys loading items in the Brookses car and held them at gunpoint until sheriff’s deputies arrived.
The trial for Zarro, whose case was moved on a change of venue to Newton County, is scheduled to begin on June 23rd, 2014.
Both boys are being held in the Stone County jail on $2 million dollars bond.
