Thomas Phillip Brown (mug shot TCSO)

The preliminary hearing for a man accused of killing his wife inside a room at the Ramada Inn Resort and Conference Center in Branson in February has been set for June 4th.

Prosecutors say Thomas Phillip Brown, 68, who is charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action, shot his wife because he did not want to move to Branson.

The couple, who left their home in Palm Springs on Valentines' day, were in the process of relocating to the area from Palm Springs. Marilyn Brown's daughter told investigators that Thomas Brown did not want to move to Branson. A statement from police says that Thomas Brown was upset that the couple had to reside out of hotel rooms "due to being displaced from the place they had planned to reside."

Brown is being held without bond in the Taney County jail.

UPDATE 06-04-11:

Brown was ordered to stand trial for his wife's murder after he waived his preliminary hearing.
