Windy Friend (TCSO)

A fourth person has been indicted by a Taney County grand jury in connection with the murders of Russell and Rebecca Porter in 2011.

Windy Friend, 31, of Springfield was arraigned on two counts of conspiracy to commit murder on December 13th. Court records say Windy Friend helped plan the Porter's murders and clean up the crime scene.  Rusty and Becky Porter went missing from their home near Willard in April of 2011. Their skeletal remains were found in rural Protem three months later. Authorities say they had been shot execution style.

Windy Friend, who is due back in court on January 3rd, is the wife of Tony Friend, 44, and the stepmother of Phillip Friend, 26, who are each facing two counts of first degree murder, felonious restraint and armed criminal action. Their cousin, Dusty Ray Hicks, 24, of Walnut Grove is also facing murder charges.

Earlier this year both Tony and Windy Friend were named in court document as "targets" in the investigation into the murders of the Porters in court documents in an unrelated drug investigation in Greene County. Drug charges against the couple were dismissed, however, Tony Friend, is charged with a federal weapons violation due to weapons recovered at the couples heavily fortified mobile home during a raid of their home.

A change of venue was granted to Dusty Hicks on December 17th. His attorney Tim Finnical asked that a jury be picked from another county and imported to Taney County to hear the trial. He is due back in court on January 7th.

The court did not take up the change of venue motion for Tony Friend on the 17th. He is due back in court in mid-January.

The grand jury indictment against Windy Friend, who is being held on a half-million-dollar bond, indicates that there could be additional indictments forthcoming.
