A woman from Tunas who was charged with involuntary manslaughter and assault charges two-and-a -half years ago has pleaded guilty.
 
Authorities say Karena Dawn Smith, who was 17 years-old and had a blood alcohol content of .191 at the time of the fatal crash, was drunk when she turned into the path of a truck in Ozark on Memorial Day 2010. 
 
Just 12 days before the fatal car crash Smith pled guilty to a misdemeanor DWI charge in Fair Grove. She was placed on two years probation and her drivers license was revoked at the time of the fatal crash.

Twenty one year-old Joshua W. Bridges, of Fair Grove was killed and another passenger in Smith's vehicle, Ashley Pierce, suffered a broken pelvis and a head injury. The driver of the pickup, Shannon Mitchell, broke his wrist in the crash.

Smith could face between 5 to 15 years in prison for involuntary manslaughter and 1 to 7 years on the assault charges when she is sentenced on January 11th.  Christian County prosecutor Amy Fite has agreed to ask the court that they sentences be served at the same time.
