A man from Reeds Spring who was charged with domestic assault in September has pleaded guilty.
David Keith Poelzl, 46, admitted that he hit his wife, Tiana, in the face and shoved her, causing her to fall on September 8th. According to the probable cause statement, Poelzl attempted to hit the woman with a baseball bat. Two minor children in the home told authorities that their father "had grabbed them by the throat" and threw one of them across the room.
Poelzl was also facing two charges of endangering the welfare of a child after authorities were told he smoked methamphetamine in front of his children. He entered an Alford plea to one of those charges and the other was dropped, per a plea agreement.
Poelzl was sentenced to five years in prison on the assault charge and five years probation on the endangering charge. He is scheduled to be released from prison in 120 days after completing an institutional drug treatment program. After that, he will be placed in Stone County's drug court.
