Harold Evans could possibly face involuntary manslaughter charges |
A man from Galena has been booked into the Greene County jail on a 24 hour involuntary manslaughter investigative hold following a deadly crash in Springfield early this morning (03-03-12.)
Police were called to Commercial and National about 12:30 a.m. after a 97 Acura, driven by Harold L. Evans, 33, lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a traffic signal pole. The Acura then bounced off the pole and hit a 76 Ford LTD that was stopped at light.
A passenger in Evans' vehicle, 25 year-old Brandon S. Smith, of Copperas Cover, Texas, was killed in the crash. A second passenger in the Acura was not injured and the driver of the LTD sustained minor injuries in the crash.
Reports from authorities say speed and alcohol could be contributing factors in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing, according to authorities.
