Authorities in Springfield believe a man who allegedly shot his estranged partner may be holed up inside a vacant business at 705 W. Battlefield.

The woman, who has not been identified, called 9-1-1 about 5:30 p.m. and said she had been shot in the ear, fled and believed the man who shot her was still inside the business. Police have surrounded the building and SWAT officers arrived on scene about 7:30 p.m.

An online search of the address identifies the business as Acceptance Mortgage.

Shortly after 8 p.m. Lt. Roger Moore said detectives are attempting to establish contact with the alleged shooter and that another update for the media wouldn't be for at least 2 hours.
UPDATE 10:22 p.m.:
Lt. Moore says, "We're still not sure if our suspect is in the building or not. We're proceeding cautiously because we had shots fired here." Moore is advising nearby residents to stay indoors.
July 6th @ 2:00 p.m.:
Sources who are friends of the couple identify the man who killed himself as Wayne "Jerome" Jackson. The source says that Jackson said he had a bullet for himself, and one for his wife, Lesa.
