The mayor of Nixa has pleaded guilty to charges of driving while intoxicated today (02-16-10.)
Last June, Brian Hayes was pulled over by a city policeman for suspicion of DWI. Once the officer realized whom he had pulled over he quickly turned the investigation over to the Highway Patrol.
Christian County prosecutor Ron Cleek says Hayes was sentenced to thirty days in the county jail, however, that sentence was suspended and Hayes was placed on two years of unsupervised probation. He was also ordered to perform 60 hours of community service and fined $350.00.
Hayes' attorney, Steve Meier, says that he is pleased with the outcome.
Nixa alderman Michael Durbin called for Hayes' resignation when he was charged last year.
