The city of Joplin has settled a wrongful death lawsuit brought against them following the suicide of an inmate at the city jail two years ago.

GRW Group, the jail's former operator, has agreed to pay 22 year-old Charles Hutcherson Sr.', mom, son, and his the little boys mother $85,000.

Hutcherson was arrested in May of 2007 at a Joplin hotel on charges of domestic violence, possession of pot, and an outstanding felony warrant out of Greene County for stealing

The suit alleged that GRW failed to keep Hutcherson, who was being held in an isolation cell, from killing himself after he told jailers his intentions.
