A Douglas County man has been sentenced to twenty five years in prison for killing his ex-wife's boyfriend.
James Hitchcock (a.) had been charged with first-degree murder for the August 2008 shotgun slaying of Wendell Hillhouse, but a Douglas County jury found the 42 year-old Ava man guilty of second-degree murder and armed criminal action in June.
Hillhouse was helping his girlfriends ex husband, Hitchcock, move some cars when Hitchcock pretended to have car trouble and ambushed Hillhouse. Hitchcock then dragged Hillhouse into the woods near Assumption Abbey and bludgeoned him with a baseball bat.
Hitchcock also received a ten year sentence on the armed criminal action charge. Both sentences will run concurrently (at the same time.)
