The Republican Party has announced that Dan Patterson will officially toss his hat into the ring and announce his candidacy for Greene County Prosecutor next Thursday at 9:30 a.m. on the steps of the historic old Courthouse.
Patterson started work in the prosecutors office in April of 1996. He worked sexual assault and child abuse cases as he worked his way up to be named Chief Assistant Prosecutor in 2003.
As chief assistant, Patterson is in charge of the daily operations of the prosecutors office. He also sits first or second chair in major crime cases like murder and assault.
Patterson is a major in the Missouri Army National Guard, and recently returned from serving a nine-month stint in Kosovo. He is married to Jill Geary Patterson, who is also an attorney in the Greene County Prosecutors office; they have two little girls. Patterson also has a son from a previous marriage.
Darrell Moore is not seeking re-election because he hopes to garner the Republican nomination for the 7th Congressional District seat that will be vacated by Roy Blunt in 20-10.
