Robert R. Langford, 27, who has been charged with one count of forcible rape and
three counts of forcible sodomy, was baby-sitting the girl and her brother while their mother was at work Thursday night when the alleged crimes took place.Langford (above) had been a friend of the mother's for several years according to court records.
The probable cause statement says that the little girl told investigators that she and Langford were watching TV when he began stroking her leg and inched his hand toward her pelvic area.
She said she moved away from Langford, but he continued to feel her leg. She said she then tried run into the bathroom and lock the door, but Langford grabbed her and threw her onto her brother's bed.
"Langford used physical force, including strikes to her face resulting in injury, to hold her down" while he forced vaginal and anal intercourse, the probable cause statement says. He also forced the little girl to perform oral sex on him.
During an interview at the Child Advocacy Center, the victim told authorities she tried to fight Langford and begged him to stop, but he covered her mouth and told her he would kill her if she told anyone.
A forensic examination found that the little girl's injuries were consistent with the details she gave authorities about the incident.
When the girl's mother returned home at 2:30 a.m. on Friday she noticed a mark on her daughter's face and asked her what happened.
When she was told what happened, she called 911 and Langford fled the house while she was on the phone.
Police caught up with Langford Saturday afternoon on West Walnut Street.
Investigators say that Langford is the chief suspect in the violent assault, forcible rape and forcibly sodomy of another female.
Langford is being held in the Greene County Jail on $500,000 bond.
