Julie Horstmyer

A grand jury that was seated in Christian County in September has indicted a woman for involuntary manslaughter in connection to the death of her 2 year-old daughter two years ago.

Sheriff Joey Kyle says Julie Michelle Hortsmyer, 31, of Republic, was arrested Tuesday for involuntary manslaughter for the November 5, 2011, death of her daughter, Berklee Marie Robertson.

When authorities were called to 309 Little Avenue in Clever they found the little girl unresponsive in her crib.  The grand jury indictment alleges that Horstmyer "recklessly" killed her daughter by "causing" her to ingest sertaline.

Sertaline is the generic for the antidepressent Zoloft which is used to treat depression, panic attacks, anxiety and post traumatic stress.

Horstmyer, who is also charged with endangering the welfare of a child for not seeking medical attention for the toddler after she ingested the antidepressant, is being held in the Christian County jail on $75,000 bond.

Because Horstmyer was indicted by a grand jury, there will be no preliminary hearing and the case was automatically bound over for trial.

She is scheduled to be arraigned on November 8th.
