Patrick Carl Shepherd (mug shot SCSO)

A man from Reeds Spring has been charged with two counts of statutory rape/or intercourse with a child under 14 years-old for an alleged incident earlier this year.
According to court documents, Patrick Carl Shepherd, 29,  told cops that he used to be a “cutter” and noticed that the victim was as well.  He told investigators that he wanted to help the girl and "listen" to her.
When confronted about texts he allegeldy sent the victim regarding admitting "their romantic implications, Shepard allegedly admitted that he and the girl had sex when he "was very high on prescription drugs."  He said when he realized what was happening, he stopped.  However, he told investigators that he and the girl had another sexual encounter two weeks later.
Shepherd, who was arrested last week, is being held on $50,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in associated circuit court this week.

Update 10-30-13:

Shepherd waived his preliminary hearing and is scheduled to be arraigned in circuit court on November ,th.

It saddens me to see how you portray Patrick Carl Shepherd. He is not a man who preys on girls with psychiatric issues. He was very close to the victim and family, and they were well aware of their friendship. I'm not saying what he did was right, by any means. But they were a support system for each other, and his intentions from the beginning were not to take sexual advantage of her. Patrick is not a monster, or a sexual predator. He's a man with significant mental health issues that need to be addressed

THE GIRL WAS 14. I would think different is she was 17. Or even 16. But at the age of 14 . That is just sick. Good story! Keep up the good work!

I haven't inserted my opinion--or editorialized my opinion of Shepherd at all.

All of the information in this story was obtained from court documents.

It is wrong, but she knew what she was doing. It is disgusting. And if he's guilty,he'll get what he deserves. But she consented twice, and asked to be in that relationship. she needs help too
