Felony charges of attempted enticement of a child have been dismissed against a Galena man.
Christian County prosecutors had alleged that Darrel W. Farris, a former school teacher in Sparta, inappropriately touched and kissed a 13 year-old female student during tutoring classes earlier this year.
Farris pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges of third-degree assault and was sentenced to two consecutive 15 day jail terms. However, those sentences were suspended and Farris was placed on probation for two years, according to court records.
Farris resigned his position with the Sparta school district after they launched an investigation into the teen's allegations.
