Tony Douglas Frieze (mug shot SCSO)

A Springfield man obviously didn't learn his lesson the first time he failed to appear in court and is back behind bars after failing to appear in court again last week.

In September of 2011, Tony Douglas Frieze, 34, formerly of Crane, was charged with stealing after a man reported that a large amount of scrap metal was missing from his property at 42624 Highway 413.

According to court documents another man, who is cooperating with authorities, "admitted that he and Tony sold the scrap items to the Stone County Recycling Center." The cooperating witness told authorities that Frieze asked him "to initiate the transaction because Tony claimed to have lost his wallet." The man told authorities that Frieze paid him $30 of the $230 he got for the scrap metal.

Frieze, who has a lengthy criminal history that dates back over a decade, was jailed late last month for failure to appear and Judge Alan Blankeship ordered Frieze back behind bars after he showed up five hours late to court on March 20th.

Blankenship asked Frieze if there was a good reason for his delay.  Frieze answered that he now lives in Springfield and didn't have a ride.  Blankehip told him he "should have figured out his transportation issues earlier" and said, "I'm tired of you showing up late to my court...you're going back to jail."

Frieze remains is being held on $30,000 bond.
