Jacob Clayton Laughter (mug shot SCSO)
A man from Branson has pleaded guilty to statutory rape and has been sentenced to six years in prison.
According to court documents, Jacob Clayton Laughter, 23, had sexual intercourse with a thirteen year-old the girl at the Eagle's Nest Resort in April of 2011 when he was 21 years-old.
Stone County Prosecutor Matt Selby says, “This was a situation where there was a relationship between the defendant’s family and the victim’s family and used that friendship to take advantage of the thirteen victim in a sexual way.” He added that “the maximum sentence is seven years and due to that breach of trust a six year sentence was appropriate.”
Judge Jack Goodman could place Laughter on parole after he has served 120 days in prison. |
