Authorities in Crane were tipped off by Nixa police about a threat a juvenile male student made "to shoot up the school" over the weekend.
Chief John Elmore says a friend of the 14 year-old called authorities in Nixa after reading a disturbing post on the boy's facebook page and authorities then contacted him.
Elmore says when police responded to the student's home about 10:30 p.m. Sunday (12-16) they found no evidence of firearms or explosives in the home, and no evidence that he would be able to carry out the alleged act.
The boy was taken to Lakeland Regional Hospital in Springfield by juvenile authorities for a mental evaluation.
The Crane Chronicle has made a Sunshine Request for the incident report and will have more on this breaking news story in next weeks edition.
