A sixty nine year-old woman from Galena has been charged with two counts of distribution of a controlled substance after authorities found pot and prescription medication that did not belong to the woman when they served a search warrant on June 28th.

COMET drug officers were assisted by Stone County deputies when they arrested Hazel Beatrice Thomas after they executed that search warrant at 520 W. 4th Street. Confidential informants allegedly bought prescription medication from the woman and notified authorities, according to a source close to the investigation.

Stone County sheriff Richard Hill says "additional evidence" was collected and paperwork from his office has been forwarded to prosecutor Matt Selby for consideration of additional charges against Thomas.

She was released from the Stone County jail after posting $50,000 bond.
