Adam R. Bergseth (mug shot GCSO)

-
Springfield police have a crime scene of their own that is connected to the fatal shooting of a man last weekend in Marionville.

Thirty seven year-old Adam Raleigh Bergseth was shot on June 30th after he came at an officer with a pair of poultry shears.  That officer was responding to a call of a woman who was being held against her will at the Applelane Townhomes.

The Highway Patrol is now in charge of the investigation into the fatal shooting and the officer who shot Bergseth is on paid administrative leave, which is common after an officer involved shooting.

But Marionville police chief Mark Webb wanted to know what brought Bergseth to his jurisdiction.

As he was piecing that puzzle together Webb said he notified SPD about "a smell of human decomposition" in the car that Bergseth had driven to Marionville. "They didn't seem interested at first," said Webb. When Webb went to Bergseth's home at 1231 W. Edgewood on Tuesday he alerted authorities to the discovery in the trashcan.

"It's not clear at this time what, if any, connection Bergseth had to the woman in Marionville," said Webb.  "He may have met her on the Internet or something."

"SPD is pursuing investigative leads to determine if the decomposed body is male or female, although the preliminary investigation leads police to believe the remains are that of a female," said Corporal Matt Brown in a July 6th news release. "In addition, the investigation has produced leads as to the possible identity of the victim."

Authorities have been showing a picture of a woman to neighbors of Bergseth's to see if any of them recognize the woman. The car Bergseth was driving belongs to a woman, K.F., who is missing from Florida.

In July of 2011, Bergseth was arrested by the Sanford, Florida, police department and booked in to the Seminole County jail.  Online records do not say what he was being held for or if any charges were filed against him at that time.
-
In November of 2011, Bergseth was arrested after police in Sanford received a tip that he was wanted on an arrest warrant out of Missouri and he was driving on a suspended license.  At that time he told police he was homeless, according to The Sanford Herald.

Bergseth, who has also lived in Republic and Bolivar, had violated the conditions of his probation or parole at least 12 times in the last 4 years.  Authorities in Greene County issued a warrant for Bergseth's arrest on June 15th after he failed to appear for a probation violation hearing.  He was placed on probation again last year after pleading guilty to drunk driving and being a persistent offender of  driving while revoked, according to online court records.

"I don't know if he thought he was going to go to jail for the rest of his life or what, but I think he definitely knew he was living on borrowed time," Webb said in a telephone interview on Friday.

Webb said Danny Hughes, the 51 year-old officer who shot Bergseth, has been with the Marionville department, which only has two full time officers and  a handful of others who work part time, for about six months but he has experience with other agencies in the area. Webb said the officer had not yet been TASER-certified, so use of the alternative weapon was not an option.

"Forensic testing on the remains continues and these comparisons may take several months to complete," says Corporal Brown.

Who Was Adam Bergseth; Is There More Than One Victim Connected To Him:

-
Photo Adam Bergseth recently sent to a friend

The man who was shot and killed by a Marionville police officer on June 30th had an extensive criminal history and traveled highways and back roads between the east and west coasts frequently.

Bergseth attended elementary school at Piru School in California and bounced around schools near Oxnard, California, near where his mother still lives, according to a childhood friend of Bergseth's. He was also a creative writer, according to his facebook page.

He had a son when he was about 18 with a "significantly" younger girl named Autumn, according to the friend. He also had three children with another woman, Laurie Weiss, who now lives in Florida. Bergseth and Weiss had been in a relationship for over a decade before they split up last year.

In July of 2011, Bergseth was arrested by the Sanford, Florida, police department and booked in to the Seminole County jail. Online records do not say what he was being held for or if any charges were filed against him at that time.

In November of 2011, Bergseth was arrested after police in Sanford received a tip that he was wanted on an arrest warrant out of Missouri and was driving on a suspended license. At that time he told police he was homeless,
according to The Sanford Herald.

On January 5th and 6th, 2012, Bergseth made the following posts on his facebook page:

"Found myself in a strange position today as a young woman asked me out. Had no idea what to do and like the cool sophisticated suave guy I am I ran to the bathroom and threw up and escaped out the back door. I am not ready for anything major and all that.
Blonde, blue eyes, 5 foot 2 and about 99 lbs at the most. Will post some pics later I guess. Sighs."

Bergseth, who has also lived in Republic, Bolivar and the state of Nevada, had violated the conditions of his probation or parole at least 12 times in the last 4 years. Authorities in Greene County issued a warrant for Bergseth's arrest on June 15th after he failed to appear for a probation violation hearing. He was placed on probation again last year after pleading guilty to drunk driving and being a persistent offender of driving while revoked, according to online court records.

“Subject has consistently demonstrated throughout the years that he [has] no intention of complying with terms of his probation,” the probation officer wrote in a report to the Greene County Court asking that Bergseth’s probation be revoked.

Adam Raleigh Bergseth aka as Adam Bergs or "Adam The Liberal" trolled Craigslist looking for lonely women to hook up with, according to Erica Chaffin.

It was at Chaffin's townhouse that Bergseth lost his life. "I had put up a fake Craigslist ad because I was trying to catch my husband cheating." Chaffin says.

Bergseth responded to the ad and he and Chaffin began communicating via text message, phone calls and the Internet for a few weeks when they hatched a scheme to trick her husband. "We told him that Adam was the gay cousin of a friend of mine."

Erica Chaffin

Bergseth told Chaffin, and her friend Kim O'Callaghan, that he was a successful video game designer who was working on Dead Space 3 and traveled frequently for his job. He told the women he had business meetings in Dallas about a week prior to him being killed and that he was into the "swinging lifestyle." In reality, sources say, Bergseth was really in Aurora hooking up with another woman. When Bergseth "returned" from Dallas, he would visit Chaffin's home for a few hours every couple of days and then leave.

So when Chaffin's husband, Dillon Albers, left for a drug study in Springfield that fateful weekend he thought he had left his wife and son in the safe hands of a gay man he had never met. He had no idea at that point, well, no one did at that point, that Bergseth was allegedly responsible for the murder of at least one woman whose remains would soon be discovered in a trash can outside his rented Springfield home.

It was Marionville police chief Mark Webb who wanted to know more about how Bergseth ended up in his jurisdiction that led him to Bergseth's home at 1231 W. Edgewood. As he was piecing that puzzle together Webb said he notified SPD about "a smell of human decomposition" in the Mitsubishi Eclipse that Bergseth had driven to Marionville. "They didn't seem interested at first," said Webb. When Webb went to Bergseth's rented home at 1231 W. Edgewood on July 3rd he alerted authorities to the grisly discovery in the trashcan.

Bergseth's home surrounded by crime scene tape

Chaffin, who is on probation for drug and stealing a motor vehicle convictions, confirms there was an "awful" smell inside the vehicle. "He told me that he had been messing around with a woman and her boyfriend found out and dumped pigs blood in his car."

But Chaffin says the Edgewood house isn't the place Bergseth took her to when they went to "his" place. "It was a townhouse where we went."

Chaffin says Bergseth told her he would help her make a furniture payment that weekend and when they arrived at the furniture store Bergseth handed her a check. "They didn't accept checks...and thank God they didn't," said Chaffin. It was while she was on her way out of the store that Chaffin noticed the check didn't belong to Bergseth - it belonged to a woman named Kelly F.

Chaffin says that Bergseth took her to Great Southern Bank on Battlefield on the afternoon he was killed and attempted to have her pose as a woman named Jillian or Julianne P. in order to cash a state check. "I asked him who Julianne was and he said you are now." Chaffin says the drive thru teller gave the check back to them and said she couldn't cash it if the person did not have an account at the bank.

However, Dillon Albers says his wife attempted to deposit the check in his account and they wouldn't accept it.

Chaffin says Bergseth would "get nervous and jittery" whenever they saw a police cruiser. "He started getting really controlling and possessive. He wouldn't let me really leave his sight or have my phone, so when I got to make a call, I called Kim and told her about all the weird stuff that had been going on all weekend and asked her to call the cops and tell them I was being held against my will."

courtesy KY3

Chaffin was on the phone outside her apartment door with O'Callaghan when officer Danny Hughes arrived to check on her well being. "She put me on speaker phone and I could hear everything that was going on," said O'Callaghan.

Hughes "asked where Adam was and Erica told him he was in Apartment A, it was unlocked and he could go in. He asked if there were any weapons in the house and Erica said, only knives and scissors."

When 37 year-old Bergseth saw the cop from the window he ran upstairs but was eventually coaxed downstairs, according to Chaffin.

When he came downstairs he bolted for the kitchen. O'Callaghan remembers this exchange. "Keep your hands where I can see them. Don't go back there....Adam keep your hands where I can see them....Adam, don't grab those scissors. Put the scissors down, I have a gun. Adam, put the weapon down, I have a gun - I will use it." She says the next thing she heard was two gunshots. Chaffin said even after Bergseth was shot, he again lunged at Hughes with the poultry shears and more shots were fired.

A source close to the investigation says authorities believe the human remains found in Bergseth's trashcan belong to Kelly F., who was from Longwood, FL, and that the identification of several people were in Bergseth's possession. Dillon Albers says someone in law enforcement told him that a severed body part, that does not belong to the victim in the trashcan, was found inside Bergseth's home.

When Kelly's mother, J.F, was reached by phone she confirmed that her daughter is missing and said she wasn't ready to comment until a positive identification was made. "It's every mother's worst nightmare. The waiting is unbearable."
-
A friend of Kelly F's, who lived with her and another woman, says they believe she met Bergseth when she was incarcerated in the Seminole County, FL, jail. "I know she was visiting him in jail. When he was extradited back to Missouri, she said she was going to go there to be with him. We begged her not to go.....we told her it was crazy and said what would you do if it was one of us. She said....tell you not to go. But she wouldn't listen to her own advice and went anyway."

The friend says he attempted to reach Kelly around the Christmas holiday and Bergseth answered her phone and told him she was asleep. Kelly never returned the phone call, according to the friend.

I received the following email from the boyfriend of a woman who met Bergseth after he moved to Missouri:
-
See, her and her friends used to hang around with him when they (meaning the woman and her friends) were in high school. He was the often the center of the party because he supplied the alcohol. She hadn’t seen him in roughly 10 years until February. She has a second job working 2 days/nights per week at a bar not far from his rental house (he told her he bought it). After he ran into her, they exchanged numbers & he FB friend requested her with the name he was going by Adam Bergs (I think he deleted the page mid June). He made a weird FB post about running into a girl who was way out of his league, but changed his outlook on life. Then he texted and called both her & her friend non-stop with messages I found weird. He continued to show up where she was a server & even waited for her after work once (early on) where he brought her out to his car to give her a (fake) signed Picasso. At some point she became sufficiently worried to make me fully aware of all his contacts, and I instantly told her he seemed psychotic. I told her some of the messages seemed to have dark undertones, and she needed to flat out tell him to never ever contact her again. The messages stopped, but he did come into the bar a few more times. A couple of weeks before he was shot, he was in there, and he was buying drinks for a group of people (one of them was his roommate). When he ordered drinks from my girlfriend, and she became aware he had an open tab, she told him she needed a credit card & she was going to close him out. The cc was declined & when she told him, he just took off running out the front door. Long story short… the SPD showed up & got permission from the roommate to go into his rental house to look for him. They apparently found a bunch of I.D.’s and credit cards. That must’ve been the time he realized the gig was up, because he remained out of sight until that Marionville policeman responded to that call.

"I don't know if he thought he was going to go to jail for the rest of his life or what, but I think he definitely knew he was living on borrowed time," Chief Webb said.

Chaffin and Albers were evicted from their townhouse the day after the shooting and Dillon Albers has filed for divorce and has an exparte against his wife.

Chaffin, who has had to seek mental health care since witnessing Bergseth's death, wants Officer Hughes to know she is thankful he "saved" her. "I could have ended up in a trash bag too. I'm sorry for the girl in the trashcan and her family. I hope the other girl is still alive."

Human Remains Found In Trashcan Returned To Frech's Family In Florida:

-

Kelly Frech (courtesy Jeanne Frech)

It has been two months since a man was shot and killed by a Marionville police officer and nearly two months since human remains were found in the dead man's trashcan in Springfield.

I have been guarding the name of Kelly Anne Frech, who was from Longwood, Florida, for nearly two months at the request of her family members. After KY3 publicized Kelly's identity this evening, I decided that what I have learned about Kelly and Adam needed to be told.

A few weeks ago the Greene County medical examiner positively identified the remains found in Begrseth's trash can as those of Kelly by dental records. Ironically, Frech's remains were found on July 3rd.....on what would have been her 28th birthday.

On August 28th Corporal Matt Brown, the media relations spokesman for the SPD, said there had not been a positive identification made and that the remains had been sent to an out of state laboratory for specialized testing. When asked if that facility was the University of North Texas, Brown said he wasn't sure.

"We did receive Kelly's remains on August 18th and we've had her funeral," said Frech's mother, Jeanne.

According to friends and roommates of Frech's, who said she met Adam Bergseth, who was shot when he lunged at a police officer with a pair of scissors, while they were both incarcerated in Florida.

However a check of Florida arrest records show that Kelly and Bergseth were never housed in the Seminole County jail at the same time. Kelly had been arrested for domestic violence against a former fiance and shoplifting. "They traded accusations," said Jeanne Frech.

Frech says her daughter and Bergseth met at a crisis center in Florida. "Kelly had been going through a hard time since the death of her father four years earlier. She became so depressed she lost her job, she just wanted a fresh start and followed Adam to Missouri."

At one point Bergseth told police he was homeless and it is unclear at this time if that is how or why he ended up at the crisis center.

One of Kelly's roommates said she visited Bergseth while he was incarcerated in the Seminole County jail. Late last year she announced that she was going to follow him to Missouri when he was extradited. The friend said, "We begged her not to go.....we told her it was crazy and said what would you do if it was one of us. She said....tell you not to go. But she wouldn't listen to her own advice and went anyway."

Adam Bergseth sent the photo on the left to a friend shortly before he was shot - the photo on the right is a mug shot from the Seminole County sheriff's office

The roommate says he attempted to reach Kelly around the Christmas holiday's and Bergseth answered her phone and told him she was asleep. Kelly never returned that phone call, according to the friend.

Erica Chaffin, the woman at whoms home Bergseth was shot in Marionville, said Bergseth attempted to get her to cash checks belonging to Frech and another woman named "Jillian or Julianne Phipps."

Chaffin said she asked Bergseth about a "horrible" smell in his car. "He said he had been messing around with a woman and her boyfriend found out and dumped pig's blood in it."

Marionville police chief Mark Webb says the smell of death prompted him to go to Bergseth's home at 1231 W. Edgewood in Springfield after he couldn't get the SPD interested in his case.

Webb said he notified SPD about "a smell of human decomposition" in the Mitsubishi Eclipse, which belonged to Frech, that Bergseth had driven to Marionville. "They didn't seem interested at first," said Webb.

After he made the grisly discovery, he called 9-1-1 and an investigation into the remains began. "I want them to conduct an investigation into all the ID's that were found in the car and at Adam's house," said Chief Webb. "I believe they're probably going to find more victims....this wasn't his first rodeo. They don't want to hear from me, and they don't return my phone calls," said Webb.

The boyfriend of a woman who worked at Dennis Place says he became concerned when Bergseth kept appearing at the bar. It was at this bar that Bergseth, who had been using Frech's credit card, bolted when Frech's card was declined. His friends and roommates weren't happy when Bergseth left them left with the bill, according to Webb.

The following email is from the man: "A couple of weeks before he was shot, he was in there, and he was buying drinks for a group of people (one of them was his roommate).

A few questions I have for investigators is when was the last time Kelly Frech actually signed her signature to a credit receipt? Whose state issued check was Bergseth in possession of at the time of his death?

Jeanne Frech says Adam Bergseth, who grew up in California, told her daughter he had three college degrees, one of them in English. Jeanne says she last heard from her daughter in January. "Kelly loved art and music and her ultimate dream was to live in California. He promised her that as soon as his probation was completed he would get her there."

"The waiting for some sort of confirmation from has been excruciating," said Frech. "No one should ever have to go through this. My first phone calls next week are going to be to the police department and the coroners office to get updates on what is happening in the investigation into my daughter's murder."

Friends Say Bergseth Was "Shady":

-
Adam Bergseth sent the photo on the right to a friend not long before he was shot and killed by a Matrionville police officer; photo on left is a mug shot from the Seminole FL County sheriff's office

Two women who spent a great deal of time with Adam Bergseth before he was shot and killed by a Marionville police officer after he lunged at the officer with a pair of scissors in late June say he was a man with many secrets.

Twenty one year-old Cheynne Nava was in an open relationship with Bergseth. "I saw other people and he saw other people. It worked for us."

Nava says Bergseth was a swinger who said he was 31 years-old. "When I found out he was really 37 it grossed me out."

Nava says a group of friends, including Bergseth, went to Dennis' Place on June 12th and Bergseth opened a tab with a credit card. Nava and another of Bergseth's friends, Ronelle Scott, left the bar and were walking back to Bergseth's rented home at 1231 W. Edgewood when they were contacted by one of Bergseth's roommates, Luke Mills.

Mills told the women that they needed to come back to the bar because Bergseth bolted when the credit card he was using was declined and the police were there. That credit card belonged to Kelly Frech, whose remains were found in a trashcan in Bergseth's backyard on July 3rd, on what would have been the woman's 28th birthday.

Kelly Frech (courtesy Jeanne Frech)

Nava says officers went to Bergseth's home in the early morning hours of June 13th and found a houseful of people partying. "They told us they couldn't touch anything because they didn't have a search warrant. I handed them a lot of mail with different names on it and they said he was into identity theft."

After the cops left Bergseth's home Nava searched his room because some of the things he was telling her "just didn't add up." Nava says she found a photo ID in the name of Kelly Frech, a $2,000 check made out to Frech, a Missouri EBT (food stamp) card, Wal-Mart credit card and a Suntrust Bank card and checks in Frech's name.

"He told me that it was one of his aliases," said Nava. "He said his ex-wife was trying to take all his money and this was a way he could hide it from her." Bergseth, who had grown up in California, was never married to Laurie Weiss, but they had been in a decade old relationship and had three children before she ended the relationship last year in Florida.

In 2009, Bergseth, who has also lived in Republic, Bolivar and the state of Nevada, was charged with being a persistent DWI offender and driving while revoked in Greene County. By 2011, he had violated the conditions of his probation and parole at least 12 times and authorities in Greene County issued a warrant for his arrest on June 15th after he failed to appear for a probation violation hearing.

“Subject has consistently demonstrated throughout the years that he [has] no intention of complying with terms of his probation,” the probation officer wrote in a report to the Greene County Court asking that Bergseth’s probation be revoked.

In July of last year he was arrested by the Sanford, Florida, police department and booked in to the Seminole County jail.

According to Frech's mother Jeanne, Kelly met Bergseth at a crisis center near Longwood, Florida and followed him to Missouri late last year. Jeanne Frech says she had not heard from her daughter since January and didn't know her whereabouts until she was contacted by police about the discovery of the remains. "He told her he had three degrees, one of them in English."

-
A former roommate of Kelly Frech says she had been visiting Bergseth at the Seminole County jail and one day she told her roommates that she was going to follow him back to Missouri when he was extradited. "We begged her not to go."

Nava and Scott say they both knew that Bergseth was a liar. "But we just couldn't connect the dots," said Scott.

Nava says she began dating Bergseth on April Fools Day and a few weeks later asked him about a "terrible" smell in the garage. "He told me that he was messing around with a bartender at the Sky Box and her fiancee found out and put a severed pigs head and dumped pigs blood in his car. I have never smelled anything like that.....EVER."

Nava said there was blood on the concrete in the garage and driveway and when she asked him about it he said, "it got there when he moved the pigs head from the car." It was later determined that the card Bergseth claimed as his own was in fact Kelly Frech's Mitsubishi Eclipse.

Nava says the smell from the garage got so bad in May that it started to permeate the inside of the house. "I told him he needed to move it and he pushed it to the backyard."

Nava said when officers with the SPD were at Bergseth's house on June 13th they commented on the smell and she told them the story about the pigs head in the trash can. "They said that's weird, but they didn't look in the trashcan and I didn't either."

Cheynne Nava

Scott says she and other friends camped out in Bergseth's backyard sometime in late May and is disturbed that she was so close to Frech's remains and didn't even know it.

According to an incident report, on June 15th the SPD began an investigation into Bergseth for allegedly sending harassing text messages to Nava and Mills.

Nava says Bergseth then contacted her through her facebook page on June 16th or 17th and told her he "was at a cabin by a lake finishing a book he was writing and was going to commit suicide."

Bergseth met Erica Chaffin, at whose house he was fatally shot, through a Craig's List ad around the same time he claimed to be at the cabin. Chaffin said she had been trying to catch her husband cheating and Bergseth responded to the ad and the two began a physical relationship the weekend of the fatal shooting.

Bergseth told Chaffin and a friend of hers that he was a video game developer and that he traveled extensively for his job.

Chaffin says Bergseth offered to help her make a furniture payment that weekend and when they arrived at the furniture store Bergseth handed her a check. "They didn't accept checks...and thank God they didn't." It was while she was on her way out of the store that Chaffin noticed the check didn't belong to Bergseth...it belonged Kelly Frech.

Chaffin says Bergseth then drove her to Great Southern Bank on Battlefield on the afternoon he was killed and attempted to have her pose as a woman named Jillian or Julianne Phipps in order to cash a state check. "I asked him who Julianne was and he said you are now." Chaffin says the drive thru teller gave the check back to them and said she couldn't cash it if the person did not have an account at the bank.

Nava says Bergseth told her he owned a restaurant in Springfield and sold it before he moved to Florida with Weiss. Bergseth told her he owned a very successful restaurant in Florida and sold it for a huge profit. "He said he didn't have to work because he was living of royalties" from the sale.

Ronelle Scott

Ronelle Scott says the group of friends knew Bergseth was "shady." "Everything he told us was a lie. Everything.."

Hurray for the Marionville Chief to continue his investigation that led to this terrible discovery. Otherwise, she might never have been found.

They said the landlord mowed right around the trash can...? Surely he/she would have smelled the decomposing body. Is he/she a possible suspect?

Apparently Bergseth had been driving the girl's car for months I doubt anyone else is a suspect.

Where did the K.F. initials in the article come from?

How come there is no mention of the other people living in the home, are there not any other suspects other than Bergseth?

This shouldn't be too hard for the SPD to figure out, if he was driving the car of a missing woman from Florida. And after all, they have a lot of experience in working on missing person's cases.

Hopefully there are no more victims we don't know about yet. Adam had been trying to coerce my girlfriend to hang out with him ever since February of this year. I'm very thankful she didn't fall for his nice guy act.

Police were showing kf's pictures to neighbors. Does anyone know if anyone recognized her? Also, why all the secrecy with names? When will police give us the names or any more information? Any idea as to how long the body was there in the trash can? What I can't figure out is why he would have left her body at his own house if he did it. And then why would he have needed to put the body in the car?

Kathee Baird said...

Authorities are remaining tight-lipped on whether or not anyone recognized the woman.

The secrecy with the names is that #1. There has been no positive ID on the victim yet.

#2. No one else has been named as a suspect.

@Kathee, I'm worried about the depth of investigation into additional victims. Since he was bouncing back & forth between here & Florida, wouldn't it make sense for the FBI to be involved in the investigation?

I sent you an e-mail with some info.

Is the assumption that he drove this poor girl here from FL in her car? I wonder what the time frame was. He drove an eclipse, right? Are there any missing FL girls who owned one of those?

Is anyone else thinking this might have been suicide by cop? (Bergseth, not the girl.)

I just want to say to Officer Hughes you made the right decision. I knew Adam personally and if he was threatening you with anything he would have had the intent to kill.

And his roommates had no idea of anything. We always had a bad gut feeling and never let our guard down around him. He was a really good liar with a very personable personality.

Last month my g/f and I had an incident with Adam. He ran out on a 150 dollar tab at the bar I work at. cops got involved and ended up going to his house. so how come the cops didn't find the body there then? I'm sure they could have smelt the decomposing body. Adam was a very shady person so I don't doubt that he did this but I wonder where he was hiding the body when the cops went to his house.

KF was my lil brothers ex-gf in florida. She was a quiet girl w no enemies. She had no judgement of character and it cost her. Let this be a lesson to all of you dumb over trusting women. If u think the guy is crazy enoigh to kill u, he probably is.

First of all saying, "all you dumb over trusting women" you need to watch your mouth because that was uncalled for. Someone lost their life who didn't deserve it and if you gonna have negative stuff to say keep it to your self thanks!

Alex doesnt mean to offend, but she is right! Women have a problem with being to0 trusting! They dont think that something so horrible could ever happen to them until it is too late! KF was a pretty level headed girl, I just dont understand why she would have gone with this guy! I'm still in shock about this whole, as is all her friends back here at home in FL. I cant seem to get the revolving images of our friends hanging out at her place laughing and joking and that shes now gone. Just cant seem to come to terms with it yet.

It was just in April when my daughter and I played volleyball with Adam. I hadn't seem him in 7 years. He was my daughter club volleyball coach when she was in high school. At that time he told us he had cancer and when I seen him in April I asked him about it and he said he was in remission. He gave me the update on his life and said he was suing for custody of his 3 kids from Laurie. Said that he had a bunch of money from selling a computer game software and was getting ready to open up a restaurant. I am just amazed how he boldly lied to me and my daughter to our faces. I believe he has lied all along now!! I see now that he was good at being bad. I am sad for him children and the victims. I would be interested in hearing Laurie's side of the story. Where did he get all the ID's? Where was he getting his money for BOND for the past 10 years?

Its amazing to me u only post certain things...wow what a horrible person u are....karma will come back to u someday.

DWI offenders don't usually have to pay bond. They are just held overnight and released.

Adam Bergseth was a sociopath and a psychopath. He was a grifter, a narcissist, a manipulator, a liar. That's not slander, that is the truth from some one who lived with him for over a year. He had no heart and no soul. He was one of the most damaged people I have ever met, and his sole intent was to damage others. When I knew him he was always threatening suicide. He was just like those people that you see on true crime shows - either people were taken in totally by him, or they kept their distance. He was creepy and manipulative and downright EVIL. Evil incarnate. Now that he is gone, I can stop looking over my shoulder. Now, my heart does not have to jump into my throat when I catch a glimpse of someone in a crowd that resembles him. I know first hand what it is like to look into his eyes as he is coming at you, and no doubt Officer Hughes felt that same fear and that same need to protect himself at all costs. I would not be a bit surprised to learn that Adam was a serial killer and rapist. He was a sadist and all around sicko. Officer Hughes is my hero.

Wondering if he had anything to do with the missing nursing student, Holly Bobo from Tennessee? Knowing that he traveled the highways and biways from MO to FL and places in between, I would not be surprised to learn that he had something to do with it. She was abducted last April (2011) by a man described as 5-8 to 6 feet tall, 200 lbs. Could have easily been our nasty friend here.

With all due respect, most men can easily fit that description. And, judging from the pictures, I'd say Adam was much bigger than 200lbs.

I knew AB, in fact he was seeing a girl I work with. He was welcomed into my house, where I have an 11 yr old daughter. My friend rode around in that car with him. She told me of the smell. I feel great full for us to be alive. I knew there wasn't something right with him the second I met him. This is giving my friend night terrors. I just can't believe it.

I would just like to know since I went to middle and high school with Kelly what was the motive for this idiot could have had a reason of which to kill Kelly?

I actually knew Adam in college. The years i would have known him was 2008-2009. It blows my mind that this is the Adam that I knew. We were both majoring in computer information science. He was a class clown is the best way to describe him. I knew him when he was with Laurie. I would really like to know why he was in a mental health center or his diagnosis? To me this is just unreal I didn't know Adam was involved with this case until a few days ago nor did I know of Adam being shot/killed.

In the years I knew Adam I would have never thought he would commit a crime like this especially since his criminal record included driving without a license and being sued for pass due rent. To me there has to be a mental illness involved.

To kelly`s friends and family I am sorry for your loss.
