Two men are facing charges in Stone County related to an assault of a man on the James River over the Memorial Day weekend.
Billy Jack Taylor, 32, of Reeds Spring and Christopher C. Gilmore, 42, of Galena have been charged with first-degree assault and armed criminal action, according to Stone County Prosecutor Matt Selby.
According to the probable cause statement, Taylor and Gilmore allegedly assaulted Trevor Schumacher on May 27th with rocks and a canoe paddle while holding his head under water near Bakers Hole.

Schumacher was taken to St. John's hospital in Springfield for treatment of his injuries.
According to online court records, Taylor will be formally arraigned this week in Stone County and is free on bond.
Gilmore is being sought by authorities, according to Selby.
