The following story is from London's Daily Mail:
Could hospital car park solve mystery of two teenagers and a mother who vanished without trace 18 years ago?

Police flooded with tips after case is aired on TV
- May dig up hospital parking garage
- Garage was under construction when women disappeared in 1992
- Hospital is about five minutes away from their home
- Police reconfirm commitment to '3MW'
Officers in Springfield, Missouri, have been flooded with tips since the television show aired.
They are now considering digging up a hospital parking garage under construction when the trio vanished from their home, which was a five-minute drive away.
Sherrill Levitt, 47, her daughter Suzanne Streeter, 19, and friend 18-year-old Stacy McCall, have not been seen since June 7, 1992.

Suzanne "Suzi" Streeter |
They vanished without trace after a high school graduation party in a case that is so well-known in south-west Missouri police simply call it 3MW.

After Monday's programme, The Springfield Three, aired on the Investigation Discovery cable channel, police chief Paul Williams vowed to keep the investigation his top priority.
Department spokesman Corporal Matt Brown said: 'We are very committed to it. We don't know if this is a case where what happened is known by only a few people or many.'
He said police hope anyone with 'even a small piece of information they are holding onto that they don't think is important' will come forward.
The show detailed the events surrounding the mystery which began after the teenage girls graduated from Kickapoo High School in Springfield.
They were last seen around 2.15am when they left a graduation party and headed back to Suzanne's home to spend the night.

Her mother was last heard from earlier that night around 11:15 pm when she talked with a friend about painting a chest of drawers.
The house in Springfield where Suzie Streeter and her mother lived before they vanished |
When the alarm was raised the following day, investigators found their cars in the driveway of the house at 1717 E. Delmar Street.
The beds had been slept in. Broken glass was on the porch. The dog was restless. The TV was fuzzy. Their purses, money and keys remained in the house.
The only possible hint of foul play was a shattered ceiling light fixture on the front porch.
All the eerie details were retold as the show revealed how 5,000 leads have been investigated and despite alibis, a number of people are still on the suspect list.
-
The frustrations by investigators were also highlighted. 'It became an animal of its own,' retired detective
Mark Webb said of the investigation.
Allen Neal, lead detective with Springfield police, said: 'I can't think of another case that has come close to this level.'
-
Stacy's mother Janis McCall |
'My gut feeling is, 'I'm pretty sure they're not alive,' but I have this little corner in my heart that says Stacy's still alive and I'm going to get her back.'
'People that may have forgotten something or maybe remember now,' This [show] gives them a chance to call police and say this was really important.
'We're going to find answers for ourselves and each other. It may be the tip we've been waiting on.'
As far as suspects are concerned, Mrs McCall thinks that everyone who was interviewed should be talked to again.
-
She also thinks it's important to consider anyone in the area at that time who was or is a known abductor or murder.
-
After her daughter's disappearance, she launched One Missing Link - a non-profit organisation working with the National Center For Missing and Exploited Children.
-
Chief Williams, who took office eight months ago said he wants answers, just like the families who have waited 18 years.
-
He added: 'We'll always hold out hope we'll find them but as years go by, the prospects certainly dim.
'We're looking at some reviewing some cases that haven't been done before. Probably a more open discussion about what leads are. Let's follow them or put them to rest.'
Anyone who has information is asked to call 417-864-1810.

3MW
I'm sure it's already been pursued, but is there any chance they never left the party, that something happened there and the rest was a cover up to make it look like they made it home?
My comment is on the 3 missing women, I just don't understand why the won't dig up the garage? The family and friends need closer
I feel the same way! Dig up the garage just for their peace of mind!
springfield 3. i am a 22 year old man that has phsychic abilities, and i watched the show disappeared last night on my comcast on demand. and i had a dream that, that cox fellow abducted raped then murdered them in the woods somewhere near the hospital, then took the bodies to the construction site and buried the bodies in that hospital parking lot.please let the police know that the parking lot is the resting place for the springfield 3.
On the Discovery ID show regarding the 3MW.
I thought Williams said he was open to digging in the Cox garage? So start digging Chief! Good grief.
And did they ever investigate the home on Walnut where the newspaper clippings and the spoon rings were found?! Wasn't that just a twee bit suspicious?
I saw the show Disappeared today. I was so upset that they still hadn't dug up the concrete. It's just concrete....good grief....dig it up!
I saw this epissode on disappeared. The pictures that showed up on that ground detector thingy were creepy. They should definetly dig it up. The poor girl's mom may die not knowing, she'd just be wondering her whole life. Even if it isn't the girls, at least whoeverelse is down there will be found. What if a fundraiser was created to earn money to tare up the parking lot? I would donate every last penny in my piggy bank just to know!!
We have guaranteed the cost of the core and replacing the concrete so the hospital, taxpayers and the SPD aren't out one penny. Still no dig!
I think there should be a movement with atleast 100 people in protest to the none digging of the garage at COX and have a sit down at the spot were the 3 missing are. Until they start to digg.

dont wait on police to dig. just get ordinary concerned people to go down and dig yourself. maybe on a weekend night. what is spd gonna do, give you 10 years for destruction of property. no jury would allow any punishment.
do it now
The families of the women should be raising funds to pay for the parking garage dig. Simultaneously they should create a petition and have locals sign. Contact the mayor, contact the decision maker at the hospital. If the police department is not willing to follow up on every lead- maybe other community leaders will. These were three beautiful women- and their lives should be valued far above the cost or inconvenience of digging up some concrete. If no anomalies in the concrete were found- then I would agree- the dig could not be justified. But to find a specific area that is consistent with three bodies being buried under there- as has been shown- it's completely irresponsible not to dig. I hope that someone with half a brain will take charge in this investigation and finally dig in the parking garage. They might just solve this case. And bring some closure to these families!
The springfield 3. I'm not sure if this really means anything or what to tell you the truth. I'm not a totally insane person, but figured why not bring it up. I watched a repeat of the originally aired show "disappeared" last night. Went to bed later. I know there are 3 billion people saying they are psychic or whatever and I think it's ridiculous. But I've always been somewhat sensitive about things. I don't have a clearcut answer or even know if this has any bearing on anything but....I had a dream in which the mother basically showed me parts of what happened. At some point during the day she went somewhere and was talking to another woman about how she was free for the night and was looking forward to just relaxing alone at home. There was a man standing around who overheard the conversation. So the conversation had to have taken place in public. He followed her home. He was actually in her bedroom attacking her when the girls came in the house. They heard them come in, at that point she told him she'd do whatever he wanted if he left them alone. Didn't see any detail in my dream as to what else went on, but he ended up strangling her and by then the girls had gotten ready for bed. He then went after the girls and threatened one of them holding her with a weapon physically, to make the other cooperate, then he had both girls carry the mother's body out of the house into his vehicle, which I'm pretty sure was in the immediate vicinity of their driveway, the then took both girls somewhere and raped and killed them. I didn't see anything else in my dream as I woke up after that. I know this will probably be noted down with all the weirdos that think they know what happened. But I had to say something about this vivid dream. I truely think the key to solving this lies in finding out where the mother went that day and who she spoke to and who might have overheard her talking to another woman about her being alone that night.
The Springfield 3, Doesn't it seem like their "friend" had no emotion when talking about the story? She just lost 2 of her best friends, yet her face was stone cold. I have no doubt that she knows something. Something doesn't seem right.
come on people for one judy is dead and no way did she rise from her grave to post a comment on here and two ricky was her husband i married rick in 2001 and we had 2 kids together now we are divorced but whoever is posting this bs that judy posted this or that give it a rest because thats what she is trying to do....do you people have nothing better to do but slander peoples name if rick done it im sure they would have him behind bars right now im sure there was some kind of evidence leading them to the actual person that did it.....you people are sick and can get someone in some real trouble if you know for sure he did it what evidence do you having proving your theory maybe you should be in trouble for doing and saying what you are.....but i find it funny how the dead comes back to post comments on here.... WOW!thats a new one to me talk about return of the dead....people must be really bored with their pathetic lifes to get on here and slander people with such a serious crime....WOW!!....karma will get revenge on everyone who posted such bs on here.... it just shocks me how sorry you missourions really are
I just saw this episode air on tv regarding the missing women. I took to the internet to see if they had dug in the hospital parking lot yet and I find that they haven't. That is infuriating. If the evidence that suggests the women are there is wrong, what harm has been done?? It's a small section of concrete, easy to remove and easy to replace. If that is their final resting place, then their families can finally be at ease and have a proper burial. I can't imagine years going by and this not happening! I just can't fathom their point of view to NOT dig in that location.
SFD3- I have to agree about the "friend", something wasn't right about her!
did any body drill a core sample from the location found by the device that had the images of three bodies yet?
Still no dig!
k
I think the house seemed to be staged. There would be no logical explaination for the light fixture to be busted and the light continue to shine. It would only make since if someone wanted the light off upon entry, but there was no forced entry which would mean that one of the females felt comfortable enough to open the door or someone had a key. Also, was the house in the documentary set up the way it was actually found? Who would line their purses up side by side and both beds were left identical. I don't believe the beds were slept in. I also found it to be an amazing coincidance that the friend answered a suggestive phone call while she happened to be investigating. What wierdo makes sexual phone calls first thing in the morning? Were people the party interviewed? It is sad to think the females were in the wrong place at the wrong time, but I think some how one or all three knew who was abducting them.
Sorry I did not identify which case I was talking about on my post. It was the Missing 3 woman as you can see when you read it.
Dig up the concrete! So strange it has not been granted permission! What's the hold up? What's wrong with the police?
I think the police should be looking in the hospital parking lot my self. And I agree with the other 2 above something didnt seem right with that girl their BF! I would be devastated and doing all I can to help find them! I also believe they need to look more into this COx fellow! Maybe have Stacy's mother meet him face to face let him see what she has being dealing with for 19 yrs of not knowing! He might have a change of heart and confess and say where the women are. I believe he knows, he killed them and buried them at that construction site which is now a hospital.,. ANd for Law enforcement not to dig it up for some stupid reasons is beyond me its concrete you can put it back! SMH good grief! You say you have exhausted every lead but wont do this one? cowardly if you ask me!
im writing about the 3 missing women.. soo im guessing no one found them yet? its so sad to watch that. i just dont know why they havent found them yet. people need to start saying more. Whats wrong with this world, especially the people in it.
Why not get 20-30 people with pick axes, late at night and begin hammering away. Break away enough to get a cadaver dog's sniffer...
If the dog confirms, dig it up. Even if not, residents should take this matter into their own hands. Police never like to admit they are wrong, that is the holdup.
THREE MISSING SPRINGFIELD WOMEN
IT HAD TO BE SOMEONE THEY KNEW. THE GIRLS BOYFRIENDS, A JEALOUS OTHER "FRIEND", THE MOTHER'S JEALOUS "FRIEND", OR AN EX. WHOEVER DID IT, THEY LURED THEM AWAY IN THEIR CAR BY STATING SOME KIND OF ACCIDENT HAD HAPPENED OR SOMETHING SO THAT THEY WOULD ALL RUSH OUT, LEAVING THEIR PURSES BEHIND. IT WILL BE ONE OF THE LAST PEOPLE YOU SUSPECT PROBABLY.
GOOD LUCK. VANESSA
RE: 3MW
Some questions:
1) Is the corroborating evidence that J. Kirby called from home before she arrived at S. Levitt's home.
2) Where did the broom that Mike (j. Kirby's boyfriend) used to clean up the broken glass come from?
3) Whey did J. Kirby and Mike (BF) enter a house neither had been to before is they suspected that Streeter and McCall had gone to the water park?
4) Where did the crank call originate?
5) Did they/you check other makes/models other than Dodge? The 63 Ford was nearly identical to the 64 Dodge...and the Chevy wasn't far off either.
Those are all questions I have asked that have not been answered.
Yes, we have looked at many models of vans.
k
How heavily are you looking into Ricky Dykes and the Galloping Goose MC involvement?
The Springfield three....I dunno why I thought of this....but has anybody ever searched the property around the McCalls house? When I was a little girl I use to run around in the woods behind the large blue house and there was alot of stuff back in there...burn piles and really old artifacts. I've had dreams about the missing three and always imagine them in a familiar wooded area. I think the best friend lived there. I remember her mom saying she was suppose to go to Branson with them the next day but she didnt go with them that night to sleep over. She was lucky but also weird to miss out on that. But the woods were always strange Plus for some reason we always got in huge trouble when we went back in there. Im a criminal justice major and the Springfield three hhas always been so interesting. I imagine that's why I dream about this is BC im up late at night reading new details. Hope someday they get answers.
I'm just someone from Amsterdam, Netherlands and just watched the 'disappeared' episode on Discovery ID. I was so frustrated afterwards, WHY HAVEN'NT THEY DUG AT THE PARKING LOT! ! It just infuriates me, what could possibly be the problem, can't you announce a private dig up, invite all the media, basically embarrass the police so that they have to take action. How can they search a whole wood and not take such little effort as to dig up a little bit of concrete, i just don't understand, SO FRUSTRATING even for me as a total outsider!!!
did they ever investigate the home on Walnut where the newspaper clippings and the spoon rings were found..And i feel they should Dig up the garage just for their peace of mind...
The Walnut Street house was not looked at.
I, too, wish they would dig!
k
Does anybody not see the connection between the main suspect and the hospital? They are both named Cox! Coincidences happen, but really? If Cox is the killer, isn't it entirely possible that his warped mind may have thought a great place to bury these girls would be on a construction site that shares his name??? Anomalies on the ground penetrating radar point to...DIG HERE! Stop
wasting time SPD and dig, if for
Nothing more than to quell our curiosity.
If that was my mom , I would be at that hospital digging myself, how much time could I really get, much less then 19 years of not knowing. I pray that the truth will come out, and maybe someone should give the address to the hospital so that they to can get flooded with letters to dig on their own.
I just saw this story on "Disappeared" tonight.... Have they ever dug up that portion of the hospital garage? If not, WHY not? Isn't it a human kindness to at least dig and look? Or is the hospital concerned about the money it will cost to replace the cement? Good God, why can't someone just tell them to DIG!!!! Settle this thing once and for all about the garage. Such sadness for so long. Please help the remaining family members at least have that information!
Just what exactly is the harm in digging up a small section in the parking garage?! I'm sure theres is dry funding to fix it back. Why aren't the police being througho? Are they covering something up? It's so tragic that this is still a missing persons case. Thank you id for telling the story of these ladies. I pray the truth comes out, and soon.
It seems obvious that it is cost prohibitive to dig at the hospital. It looks to literally cost millions--as the spot is under another structure. That requires removal of the secondary structure and the use of heavy machinery. Without access by heavy machinery it is a physically impossible task, and it is unreasonable to destroy a parking structure because of a 'rumor'. The property owners don't have the luxury of throwing money around-and I'm guessing the authorities can't spare the change in tough economic times. So an innovative solution must be employed. A core sample seems like the correct course of action, assuming that there is room to operate. A series of bores could be drilled, without damaging the structural integrity of the garage. A sample could alert a scent dog, yield DNA, or just dirt. OWNESS is not on the PD nor the hospital--that just how the liability of life is. A petition and fundraising are the best way to approach this--in addition to another scan with LIDAR or more modern side-scan RADARs. Good luck.
I just sent an email to the Springfield Police Department asking them how they can justify not digging when Ms. Baird has offered to cover the costs. As I am not a citizen of Springfield, my email may not matter to them much, so I would encourage Springfield citizens to call or email the police department and tell them to dig!
Just watched this on ID...i suspect the broken light on the front porch was a result of slamming the door HARD, slamming the door hard could have caused the light to fall to its broken resting place on the porch. Its too bad they cleaned it up...if it was undisturbed they could have been taken out the back door.
I think they had all just gone to bed, the mom heard a knock at the door and went and investigated...the girls heard tihe mom talking or heard yelling and they both got out of bed and went to investigate. (i think the fact that Cox was a gas workeR with a uniform plays into this almost perfectly) They we all confronted by whomever knocked. The van makes perfect sense...the only way to control 3 people is to sit in the back with 2 of them at knife or gunpoint and make one drive. That sighting of the van turning around in the dRiveway with the blonde dRiving and crying, is 100% believable, it just makes sense. The driver being nervous and under incredible fear made a wrong turn.
I say a gun was shown to the woman immediately upon entering which is why the house seemed so undisturbed. The purses being all lined up, i say he originally planned to rob them, told them to get thieR purses and put em on the floor in front of him, so they did. At some point after that his plans deviated, he quickly forgot about the purses and decided on something much more sinister. They were led out of the house and into his van, where sUzie was told to drive. Makes sense...
@ anon 8:23 -- The address and phone number for the hospital is: 3801 South National Avenue
Springfield, MO 65807 -(417) 269-6000.
The hospital has given the SPD permission to core at the parking garage. They can't core it themselves because if any evidence is found it would pretty much become inadmissable in court.
I have guaranteed to cover the cost of the core!
k
@ anon 11:30 - the dig would be at under the parking garage. What we want is a core do be done. Still being stonewalled by the PD.
k
I also watched this story on ID and It was sad and It really bothered me all these people just went into the house when the door was shut and no one answered. I understand the mother of Stacey but all these friends and others. Kinda weird and I was the same age as these girls and I would never just walk into any of my friends home if they didn't answer the door. and the Cox guy he holds the key to this ending. I read in one of the stories that he would tell what happened to the three ladies after his mother passes, OK WELL WHAT ABOUT THE THREE LADIES FAMILES THEY HAVE SUFFERED 19 YEARS, but he would rather worry about his moms feelings.. I wish they would core drill the hospital. These families need closer, They are in my prayers
The hospital can't core it because if they found anything it would make it inadmissable? After all, most dead bodies are found by regular people going about their business, digging, fishing, jogging, running through the woods, etc, and most of them contaminate the scene in some way before cops can setup a grid and perimeter. I understand they want to take every precaution to ensure justice, but come on, we're talking about three precious human beings that likely went through hell before they died (if they are dead), the families are going through hell, and the Springfield PD can't be bothered to drill a hole to see if they are down there? What if it was their kid? Would they still not wanna drill the hole? I swear, this smells like corruption. Is someone stalling this whole thing intentionally to prevent these girls from being found? Or is something else buried there entirely, and that is what they are stalling about? Wow, it must be pure hell to be the relatives of these women, and have to sit day and night wondering if it is them down there while these inconsiderate bastards can't be bothered to dig a fucking hole on someone else's dime. Bless you Kathee for all of your effort, I hope it will be enough to give these families some answers.
I just watched Disappeared Oct 30, 2011. I too don't understand why the garage hasnt been dug up. Has the family made a memorial out of that area? I would have been leaving flowers, etc if it was someone I knew and loved. Even if I was told I couldn't, I would leave a cross or something everyday, even if they removed it each time. What can we, the public, do to help?
I watched the show on the Springfield Three tonight. If the cost to dig is not an issue than what is the reason? If they are going all over the country to follow leads and conduct interviews, why not just dig that spot up?? The GPR reading indicated its shallow. If I lived there, I would take a sledgehammer and start smashing away myself!
The other thing is on 9/26/11, Anonymous listed 5 very good questions regarding the Kirby girl. I did not suspect any foul play on behalf of her or her boyfriend BUT those questions raised an interesting question of my own: The girls were supposed to spend the night at her house and didn't because she had a lot of family from out of town there for the graduation. The question is they knew all those people would be staying there before their plan to spend the night, so why the change of plans?
Chicago, Il
I watched Disappeared about the Springfield Three tonight. If the cost of digging is not the issue than what is the reason. It seems SPD is spending a considerable amount of money following every other lead whereas the parking lot is very plausible. Why don't the people of Springfield take up a petition and pressure them to DIG?!
The other thing is on 9/26/11, Anonymous posted 5 questions regarding the position of the Kirby girl and her boyfriend. It raised an interesting question of my own: They were supposed to spend the night at her house then didn't because of the number of out-of-town guests there for the graduation?? Makes no sense as they would have known about the number of family members before planning to stay over, so what was the real reason for the change of plans? Does seem a little weird.
it seem that the police have known for 19 years that , members of the g.g.m.c. took the women , 10 seperate people have now named the killer ,the van the police searched for , was proven to be owned by the killer , in reference to the only legitt dig done in greene county , becuase of garrison ,( well its proven garrison and the killer are friends ) in reference to the property the girls were taken to in webster county ( belongging to glennon paul sweet ) a confirmed g,g,m.c. member ( ref-book by frank owen -the highs and lows of meth) ,proves sweet was a g.g.m.c.member , and his association to the killer ( is proved) on google maps at 703 n.fremont ,there is sweets truck in (the killers yard)
Regarding the Springfield 3. I am from Springfield and keep hearing a rumor about these women that I just cannot shake and wonder why it has never been mentioned. Supposedly the 3 are buried under a parkin lot at the PFI property at 65 and Battlefield. Today on facebook a friend who did time back in the early 90s for possesion and distibution said it would scare me to know what all he has been told about this case but wouldnt discuss it on facebook. He said they were buried under the PFI parkinglot and that is not the first time I have heard this.
Do not be worried about the evidence being considered invalid if dug from the parking lot of hospital independently of the police department. If digging start occurring, you can be confident the police investigators and crews will show up and take over. Once the process has begun there would be no publicly acceptable excuse by the police department not to continue on the digging. Moreover, if the police do not intervene in the digging and if the bodies are found and if whatever evidence found is considered invalid by court terms, at least the families will have the peace of mind that is much needed. Very much needed!
The Springfield 3. I am just as incensed by the lack of action as every other person on this blog! You are funding the core drilling so money isn't an issue the hospital could have some excuse for needing to dig in that part of the garage and if they happened to discover something then it is not inadmissible as they were digging for another reason... Why can't they say that and agree to the dirilling? Have you approached them personally to see if they will work with you? I come from New Zealand and I can honestly say it is incredible to me the amount of shit that goes down over a simple elimination of possible tracks to go down. They follow up leads from phone tips all the time which costs money and manpower no worries so why not the drilling!? What a crazy useless police enforcement you have over there I feel sorry for everyone involved :( you kathee are an angel and if more people like you roamed this earth what a wonderful enriched place it would be :) keep pnthe good work and I hope the rest if the people who can help do!!! Write, email, pho e the hospital empower them to believe its their job and responsibility to get this sorted out!
Springfield 3. I was a resident in the Branson area of Missouri when this crime occured. The actions (or inactions) of the Springfield police dept. has been shameful to say the least. It took them years to find Jackie Johns killer. Law enforcement in Missouri is a joke and frankly embarrassing to any proud citizen of this country.
Shame on you Springfield police department get your shit together , your locals are embarrassed and ashamed of you! Rectify the situation ....;
Sorry kathee Last comment was for Springfield 3 blog. Tineke Mew Zealand
Find out how much it would cost to dig a 3ft by 3ft hole in the parking lot (or two by two) and post it on the blog for people to give to it. Get permission to dig it from Hospital. All you need is one bone and the cops will dig up the rest. Or drill three holes in the lot at the site and use dogs to see if they pick up a scent. I can't believe the police won't try anything.
Springfield Three
Kathee, I just watched this on my tv and I don't know if I miss it but did Cox own a green dodge van like was shown on the program? I also agree with drilling a test hole, which they do quite often, in the part of the garage where they found three anomolies at. The cost would not be significant if you consider how much money police departments have spent and do spend in solving crimes.
Thanks, Mike
I just watched the re-run, and I don't have a solid internet connection so i'm using my phone. It seems they still haven't dug up the hospital, is that correct? If so, that's highly upsetting. I agree with a lot of the posts I read. Hold a fundraiser (i'd donate) or do a small drilling test. I hope something happens soon. It's been far too long.

This is the one about the Missouri 3 missing women from the early 90's. We watched the show and started to read the comments. I saw the comment about the Green van with a title from Calif. (Dyke?) Was that looked into? Also, Did the girl's father have a green van at the car lot? I really think things in this case are slow. I hope things get solved soon so the family of the three missing women can move forward.

Im writing about the springfield three just watched it again on ID i think the friends house has alot to do with it. They were prpbably being hit on by a family member of the friend. That is why they left the house
What kind of vechicles did the family members have and did any of them leave after the girls left the house
The friend knows. Its probably a male uncle or cousin from out of state. Thats why you havent found them
He followed the girls.
@ anon 8:24 - Dykes has been looked at....timeline doesn't match.
@ anon 3-2 @ 4:14 - We have guaranteed the cost of the core and replacing the concrete so the hospital, taxpayers and the SPD aren't out one penny. Still no dig!
@ anon 3-4 @ 8:40 p.m. - That's a possibility.
This is about the M3W. Is it a possibility to take this story and all of the facts to Nancy Grace?Maybe more pressure from other media outlets may get results. Especially if she can call out the mayor of Springfield on the show and demand an explaination!
Kathee Baird, aren't you the reporter that I was in contact with when you lost your job at the newspaper? I've been wondering where you were since we spoke last.
I was only being quiet about my identity because I don't want any attention called to myself. I don't want to be on tv and I really don't want anybody to bother me about this. What I do want is for justice to be served. It is also a little bit of revenge. I will always hate those guys for doing that in front of me. Maybe that sounds selfish but I really wish that I had never seen what happened that night and I had just driven peacefully home to my family in Maryland with the news of my new job.
We need to get together. But, I need to talk with Mrs. McCall first. I can identify the men. The Springfield Police weren't interested in my identifying the men or identifying the special features of the van that aren't on any photos of similar green vans.
Don't tell Nancy Grace about me. I hate that woman!

That's a long drive. I wish my health were better.

@ Tom......Yes. I still work for the newspaper -www.ozarkssentinel.com
I can arrange for you to speak to the person you're asking about.

I guess I'm not the only one perplexed by this case. I was seven years old when it happened and have lived in Springfield my whole life. I don't understand how J. Kirby and her boyfriend were just nonchalantly entered the house. It is strange to me that even on a summer day, you would not be wearing some sort of footwear and did this broom to sweep up the glass appear out of thin air? How did they know how to gain access to a broom or where one would have been located to clean up the mess unless they had already been in the house and were familiar with the surroundings/belongings etc. I haven't read or watched any evidence that would conclude J. Kirby and her boyfriend had previously been in the home to suggest a comfortability with just entering the house without invitation. If there was no sign of forced entry and the dog was simply anxious, no one that I no would take that as a sign to come in without invite. There is something wrong with this Kirby girl, she has to know something or have been involved in some way. The events are too strange to not have a connection.
A. She would have known she would have had a lot of family staying for graduation and could have let the girls know about making other arrangements prior to giving such short notice.
B. It sounds as though to drive to someone's house and let yourself in would suggest there was a more pressing matter to attend to as opposed to going to White Water. Branson is a mere hour away from Springfield and since they had graduated it would seem they had plenty of time to go that summer.
C. Everything I have read in regards to Suzie's social life says that she associated with a much rowdier crowd then Stacy. Have the SPFD PD looked into a possible drug motive? When people disappear around this town without a trace (i.e. the couple from Willard who disappeard in 2011) it seems to bear something drug related.
Regardless this is very sad. I had my hair cut as a child at New Attitudes regularly and still remember the sign posted on the outside window of the missing women. It's hard to believe in this town that no one knows anything that happened.
I too am frustated with the police after watching this on TV today in California. Question: Why can't they just dig up a very small area of the concrete parking lot? It's not like they have to dig the whole south or north side or whatever. Just a 4x4 area, what's the big deal. They could do it without any press around and keep down the coverage in case the hospital is worried about their reputation, which I would hope they would be able to put that aside.
I'm from Spgfld. When I first read this story and watched the videos, that Kirby girl stood out in my mind. And yes, just breezing into someone's house after they didn't answer the phone? Can we say invasion of privacy? And her lack of emotion and robotic answers blew me away. Along w/ the purses lined up neatly in a row. Who does that? I think it was somebody close to them, who knew their plans and habits. Someone who knew them intimately. The way I understand it, this guy Cox had no previous relationship with any of them. No association and there was never enough evidence, obviously, that pointed in his direction to convict him. der What about the GArrison fellow? Was he cleared? I never read as to where he was that night. Anybody know? And I think I read where he had been a previous boyfriend of the mother? And then the other two (brothers?) I suppose they've been cleared also? One had been a gf of the daughter. Maybe call in the Cast of Criminal Minds. Bet they could solve this in a month just by profiling the killer(s).
And another thought.....I firmly believe whoever did this horrid crime, was AT the scene at some point during the day and helped contaminate any evidence. Brilliant. Or they made a brilliant blunder.
In regards to Springfield Three, there was a man in a white T-bird and a woman next door to a house that the van allegedly pulled into. Both identified Streeter as the person driving it. Several people reported seeing her alive after the abduction driving the van. In twenty years, has anyone ever shown any of them a photo of any of the suspects? And if not, why not? If every person that reported seeing them said no to the same pictures, you would at least know you may want to move in other directions. If you show all of them ten people and they all pick out the same photo, you may be on to something.
Second, has anyone considered that the bulb may have been broken to get someone to answer the door? If I wanted into a house, I would create a loud noise right outside. Most people, believe it or not, will go outside to see what it was.
Third, why are people just nonchalantly walking into homes they don't live in? If ANYONE just walked into my home and decided to rummage for a broom or whatever else they needed, I would prosecute them. Why were they never prosecuted for entering the home? And why on earth did 20ish people go rummaging through the house? I can see McCall's mother, but friends? Has anyone looked at the people they were meeting in Branson?
Fourth, has anyone asked any of the guests at the graduation party if anyone left around the time of, or soon after the girls? Has anyone shown any of them photos of the suspects to see if they were there? If all other guests cannot be accounted for, I'd start there.
Fifth, How can we send people into outer space but not have the technology to dig a small hole in the parking garage of a hospital? If abnormal shapes are appearing, the friends and family have the cost covered, and volunteers are willing, who is opposing it? I'd venture to say someone may have other motives for not wanting it dug up.
Furthermore, the woman who said she saw the van pull in next door with Streeter driving it and didn't come forward for a few days because she was afraid...what could have possibly scared her that bad? If what she says is true, it would seem that she would be able to identify the man in the van. If she was that scared, she evidently knew him or knew of him. If she made it up, she interfered with an investigation.
If all of these people are making up the same van and seeing Streeter driving it, why are none of them being prosecuted? They're all pretty much telling the same story. Why has that not been followed up on? I have a BUNCH of questions for those people.
I see so many leads that I have not been addressed anywhere and I have not yet begun to list them. Who was investigating this and are they still allowed to practice law?
This is absolutely insane. 1st dig up the parking garage. 2nd re-interview every pertinent person to the case. 3rd. Determine any connection between Cox and a van. 4th. Determine any connection between any of Kirbys family and a van. 4th. Keep regular pressure on Cox, even if it means offering him prison privelages if he gives info on location of bodies. No matter what I know the killer will burn in hell
Spfld Missing 3
With fresh eyes on the case, I'm thinking surely it will be solved soon. I'm not convinced the garage has anything to do with the investigation. There must be a more important lead or issue that needs to be looked at.
Have they ever established a motive? Seems that's the first piece of the puzzle.
THREE MISSING ********WOMEN****** You can disregard this as bull but, I have had about 5 dreams of these ladies being buried in a cemetary near Springfield Lake. In my dream I could look up and see 3 or 4 smoke stacks I can't remember the color of them but they were in great view of this place I saw myself standing. I have had such dreams before about other things. I do not know of any cemetary close to Springfield Lake though. I think I was looking in an upward direction in my dream. This grass yard was small and unkept for the most. In my dream I had to travel over or on a dirt like road across a field or unkept land to get to it as it was kind of hidden. This may be partly because I think the 3 missing women were buried in graves that were already occupied by other corps.I have had dreams of small and large things that have happened before. This to me is no more or no less true than the other things I have dreamed and again I don't know of of any cemetaries acrross a fiel or land close to Springfield Lake!!
Hi I am sorry you did not think my blog of the dreams I had about the Three Women near Springfield Lake. I have at times have been very accurate Like when I am in a great deal of physical pain I dream certain things under certain circumstances like some of the greastest pain I can take. This is when my abilities are at their best. I appologize this was too in- appropiate or not real enough for you. Honestly I understand. Only certain people can comprehend this type of REALITY!! This is also why I don't give my real name. I am also a Hypnotist and none no of this side of me!! GOOD LUCK!
3 MISSING WOMEN
KATHEE;
Am I so far out there you wont even put one of mine up to read? Think of it burried in a grave that was freshly opened in the country in a cemetary hardly used or taken care of near Lake Springfield by the way where they barely searched, fairly close to where the women lived. Oh did the name shorty ever come up,or did a realative get arrested for grave robbing and questioned? How easy would it be to dig up a fresh or unfresh grave and place a body inside with the original body? Lets see 3 bodies 3 sites maybe 5 or 6 hours as a guess but worth looking into. Well maybe not! May be to much work. May not even be an old graveyard near Lake SFLD!!!!
I'm sorry these didn't get posted sooner. I just received them for some reason.
Is ther or has there been a petition available online or elsewhere for people to sign advocating for the parking structure to be investigated? If so I would like the opportunity for myself and others to add my name to the list. If not, it may be worth looking into. Thank you. My thoughts and prayers are with the families, the investigators, and the community. God bless
I just don't know why they can't dig up the suspected grave sight. What could really be the harm?? If detectives and police were really keen in discovering this mystery, i would have dug it up after seeing so many obvious hints. It just makes me angry.
Hello to everyone reading,Just wanted to throw and idea out my father and i used to work light construction and concrete,I don't understand what the hold up is on the parking garage at cox It does not have to be destroyed,All that needs to be done is a small test bore drilled over the spot and a cadaver dog brought to see it "hits" if it does by all means tear it up and find them but By all means it does not have to cost a fortune to just have a look I hope someone has already suggested this but you never know At any rate it would bring this case to a close or abilty to say they are not there.
Start a petition on Change.org!
I fee terrible for the poor mother. she deserves to know what happened to her daughter. And in disappeared when they get the "prank call" i think that had something to do with the springfield three's kidnpping.
just watched this on Disappeared and I am so frustrated that the police would go to different states to follow tips, but will not dig up the garage! it's so close, what is it going to hurt to look? what ever happened to everything is relevant until proven it's irelevant? :\
SPRFLD 3...first off, i think it's great that people are still thinking about this case...2nd this unsolved case is harming people who had NOTHING to do with it. course the person(s) who did this don't care but maybe that person is reading this blog and will grow a conscience. we can only hope. seems it would eat at their soul but they must not have one.
Third thing...
Concerning this main "suspect"?
FACT: the law enforcement folks, did NOT find ANY evidence to indict him but he's paying for this crime and that IS a crime. Grow some empathy: what if he was your son, husband or father, paying the price for someone else's crime?
It disturbs me that "good" people are so blood thirsty as to blame an innocent person. It won't bring the women back. It only adds to the cruelty and evilness in the world.
A thought:
If the light was transferred off this person...maybe it'd cause the REAL criminal to get a bit....careless or nervous and...mess up. Nothing is impossible.
Once again, I'm happy to find that this horrible crime, is not forgotten.
It must be solved. Now. Way over due.
Really...have empathy?....What about the poor girl who bit his tongue off trying to save her life? Maybe we should feel sorry about that...give me a break.
Kathee, just skimmed the previous submissions. Interesting, the woman w/ the dream. We have a tiny "grave yard" on our property, it doesn't "belong" to us. It was used during the Civil War...somebody would have to have our permission to get to it but the actual declared cemetary is not "our's" to dig or do anything with. So, the 'dream' woman may have something...the waste plant (she's describing) is not far from the Battlefield. Sooo
Anyway, and Cox was acquitted by the Florida Supreme Court, stick to facts. He never would have even gotten on Splfd's radar if the FL people had not called.
THey need to look further into the people who were first on the scene and who last saw them alive. I'm w/ the person who made the point, they could have been followed from the party by a relative of Kirby's.
OR
The Garrison/Sweet connection. Was that looked into thoroughly and then revisited?
Lots of good ideas brought up. Let's get this case solved!
aurora91w@gmail
Why are you writing Cox? How's that working out for you?
Kathee, I know you are really passionate about this case, but you are not a lawyer. You are not a detective. And you are not a journalist. This has significance.
While you and many people who have commented seem upset that the police have not dug up the parking lot, there is a good reason for not doing so. In order to do so, the cops would need a search warrant or permission from the owner of the garage. There isn't enough evidence to get a search warrant. A crazy killer who seems like a narcissist simply isn't reliable as evidence. Also, the blurry pictures of your hired "expert" is not enough proof for a judge.
You have criticized the cops over and over, but it is abundantly clear that they have exhausted all credible leads. There are a lot of missing person cases. In many of these cases, the cops might know who did it. Proving that in court is a different matter. Remember: guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. There isn't even any evidence of an abduction - besides the fact that they are missing. How could they prove that a particular person murdered these women?
@ anon 11-08-12: I know I am not a lawyer or a detective, however, I AM a journalist. The hospital has given the SPD permission to dig. They choose not to.
It's obvious that all leads have NOT been exhausted. If they had been, we would have answers!
k
i was curiuoswhy youve never mentioned theland the police dug up on 65 hwy. you turn on bear creek and the man that owns it was saposed to have been seen with these women that morning but of course never confirmed. i do know the police dug up alot of property but they didnt dig up this mans other land close by. his old home place. they need to. im just sure.
Regarding the Three missing women from Springfield I don't understand why the police haven't dug up the hospital parking lot. I believe we all need to put pressure on the police department AND the hospital to do just that. I have signed a petition on http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/dig-up-cox-springfield/ and I wrote to the hospital via https://home2.coxhealth.com/contactus/ to try to increase the pressure to dig and find answers!
Kathee, I think what you have done and are still doing after all these years is fantastic! I only hope that the families can get the answers that they have waited so long for.
What will it take for the police department to move on testing the parking garage? You would think that after all this time something would have made them budge. It is a lead that is not being followed so they cannot really say they have exhausted all leads. I cannot imagine living with the unknown for so many years. My heart and prayers go out to the families.
By the way, I do not think the friend had anything in the world to do with it. I would have gone inside my friends house. And these interviews were not done at the time of the disappearances. She has had several years to have her emotions drained.
Springfield 3
anymore info on the possible Larry and Gary Hall connection to this case?
Their M.O. sure 'fits' this case and of course, esp Larry and Dodge vans...and he passed a polygraph...
Is it the 'wheels of justice slowly grind'?
I think they did it. Must read: In With The Devil....
regarding the Springfield 3, I have just watched this on ID. And have just read through this entire blog. Kathee, you are doing a blessed and difficult job in keeping with this case. I have just one question....if the Walnut Street house was never investigated, how did those items show up in the first place? Who found them and brought them to attention? And why was the house not looked at more closely? I guess that was more than just one question!
Marcia
@ anon 2/14 - no more information on the Hall's.
@ Marcia 3/09 - A former resident of the Walnut Street house found them and contacted me and I turned them over to authorities. I have no idea why the house wasn't investigated more and the former resident wasn't contacted.

3MW
Graduation time again...21 years. Always reminds me of them. Nothing new?
This is in regards to the springfield three...can't u start an online petition and link it up with
other missing person websites or
a facebook page to get as many people to sign. maybe it would over-
whelm the police dept there and they would dig up the slab. Also, did they ever try to trace the calls into the home received by the friend to see if it originated with the Cox person of interest?
People who are commenting that the friend doesn't show much emotion so some how knows something are seeing things that are not there.
It has been 2 decades, I am sure she feels bad but your emotions would not be so raw after all that time.
I hope this is solved.
18 + years what should be found out is who is holding up the project of finding those people if all the destruction costs and repair fees are in place guaranteed that the job of digging remains undone yeah guess the police who say with such passion and dedication they want the case solved ,that they will do everything they can to finding them checking every lead and tips .....is that crickets i hear? 18 +years and still not a blinking thing done
Yes, I feel that the city needs to fire the entire police force in this city and get some in that want to do their job. They always seem to have excuses on why they can't do something. I truly hope that they do find these ladies and help the Mother put some closure to this horrible situation to rest.
RE: 3MW
Kathee,
What are your thoughts regarding the prank phone calls made to the house that Janelle answered? My understanding is that a killer usually returns to the scene and also wants information on the "case". The fact that someone called the house that morning seems suspicious and also very amateurish, which is also a clue to be investigated. The sexual, immature nature of the calls seems like something a teenage boy would do.
Did police trace the calls?
-S
The prank phone calls were checked to the extent they could be back then.
I do believe the perp/s keep up with the case either here or on the facebook group page about the case.
https://www.facebook.com/groups/102771059802716/
Crazy. Have they check the garage yet?
Have there been any recent updates in the case?
It's been almost 4 years since the idea to dig at Cox. I remembered hearing about them wanting to do it, yet nobody has. I'm a resident of the Springfield area and I'm all for them digging it up. I wanna know what happend to those women!!
They don't have to dig up the garage! Dig a "bore hole" in the middle of one of the suspected areas and examine the contents from the hole. That will tell them if a body or bodies is under there. Then they can proceed to dig it up if they get the evidence they need. DUH!
With all the feet dragging of not digging up the parking lot, it makes me start to question the motives of the police in charge. Is there not a judge that is willing to order a dig? This is a sad injustice for the families left behind.
If that was my family i would be learning how to use a drill and digging it myself with any friends that were friends enough to want to help me find my family - so what if i got arrested - id have someone to dig when i couldn't - no one should call the police anyway as everyone wants the ladies to be found .... Get digging people and solve this mystery once n for all ......... I look forward to hearing the dig has finally happened ........... Good luck
To the family and friends of these women: Keep the faith. Stay strong. We pray you will have your answers soon.
How can this not have happened yet! For one second forget about finding the killer do it for the families so they can let loved ones rest or if they are not there the case can move on. Is there no way to do it privately rather than wait for the law to decide that they can be bothered. It's the third time I've seen this case about 3mw and I've always hoped that there would be an added bit on the end saying they had be found.
Re Springfield three
If no one has, please someone put together a cause.org petition (cases like this have been done and successful) to fight for the digging / unsolving of this cold case
Fwd it to Americas most wanted, to tv stations,
Specifically after you have as many signatures as you can then email it to everyone who ever commented here to sign then bring it to all local news for a feature / attention on it and then they can ask cops / city why they haven't done the work to dig and or re investigate again! Its about time this is looked at with a fresh set of eyes. Someone please head this up for those ladies and their friends and family
DIG !!! Cox killed them and burried them in the Cox garage! U blind or what!!!
Due to recent and old info I have heard I believe my Intel is fright on them being buried in the van on an old farm in Barry county. Which they have searched there once but were digging in the wrong spot. They need to dig where the old barn burned down.
these women were kidnapped by an lds pedophile group that operates from Grand Rapids, MI to Noel, MO to Mesa, AZ...
Here's a NOVEL IDEA... Drill a teeny tiny hole with a $2 concrete bit and check it for DNA! OI... UM.... DUH!!! (Doing the retard hand thump!) Why hasn't the family done this? They could drive in there with a Makita drill and be outta there in 5 mins! I say again... OI.... I'm... DUHHH! (eating boogers)
Can't understand why this still hasn't been dug up, even if it's just to rule it out of the investigation.
^ To the author of the above comment: I really don't think a $2 drill bit used to dig a "teeny hole" is going to provide any DNA evidence, even if there are bodies there - so please reconsider the "retard" comments regarding the families of the victims, especially as you don't seem to know too much yourself.
We're talking about concrete here. Just because a body may be buried in concrete doesn't mean that all of the concrete surrounding the body will be packed with DNA evidence - you'd probably have to drill deep enough that you're getting right up to the bodies themselves, hence the suggestion of taking core samples, which the hospital has welcomed, yet the police apparently refuse to follow through.
Seriously, take a moment to at least think about what you're saying before accusing others of ignorance, especially when your "solution" isn't a solution at all - and particularly when the people you're criticizing are the loved ones of young women who were likely murdered.
First of all Kathee i'd like to say thank you for all the work you have been doing... This case has just recently been brought to my attention as i am not from that area and i was 12 when the crime occurred. But i have recently become very drawn to it. In any case, my husband is a construction worker, who works with core samples at job sites all the time. He says that they only take about an hour to drill, and you don't need police permission, you only need the property owners permission, and since you have that you could easily hire a team to extract a core sample. After which time you can send the sample off to a lab to be tested. I have a feeling just like so many others, that yes the women are there. I also get the feeling that if the bodies are extracted, dna evidence on them could lead to the killer. I truly feel for the families of this tragic crime, and wish to see justice served in this tragic tale.
Pretty sure Carnahan killed them and buried them in one of the pits at his business. Would love to know where the calls to the house came from. The parking garage is nonsense, as are the random serial killer theories. This was personal and Sherrill was the target.
I had very similar dream
