A woman from Galena has pleaded not guilty to involuntary manslaughter for allegedly shooting up her boyfriend up with a powerful narcotic that ultimately led to his death.
Prosecutors say that Alyssa Crabtree, 19, and her boyfriend, Shawn Woodward, illegally purchased a Fetanyl patch for $20 and drained the medicine from the patch with a syringe on February 23, 2010. Woodward collapsed and died at the house the two shared after Crabtree allegedly loaded a syringe and injected the man with the painkiller.
According to the probable cause statement, told a friend as well as Woodward's sister, "It's all my fault I'm the one who shot Shawn up with the syringe."
Crabtree, whose next court appearance is scheduled for June 9th, could be sentenced to seven years in prison if she is convicted.
