Justin Cunningham

A McDonald County deputy was injured Sunday (04-11-10) when he responded to a domestic disturbance on Route EE.

Someone inside the home called to 9-1-1 to report that Justin Cunningham, 27, had assaulted his girlfriend, was loading a pistol and refused to allow authorities on his property.

McDonald County Sheriff Robert Evenson says when Deputy Daniel Gardner arrived at the scene of the alleged assault, Justin Cunningham was armed with a baseball bat, refused to drop it and was tased.

Rex Cunningham

After Gardner tased Cunningham, his father, Rex Cunningham, 49, hit the deputy in the head with a walking stick cutting the deputy's eye. Rex Cunningham also hit another deputy in the arm with the stick then jumped onto the back of another responding deputy.

Both Rex Cunningham and Justin Cunningham were transported to the McDonald County Jail where they posted bond and were released. The walking stick, baseball bat and a loaded 9mm pistol were recovered as evidence.

Deputy Gardner was taken to a local hospital where he was treated and released.

I think you guys left out the fact that Justin Cunningham was beaten badly enough when he was released they had to rush him to the hospital b/c he didnt know who he was.

Is it legal to show all their information like that on the internet? I mean you have their social, DOB and everything. Seems liket that should not be allowed to me!

Yeah it is pretty bad when he gets hit in the head and tasered four times and then he can't even recognize his own mom. Can't blame his dad for trying to keep his son from being hurt worse.

They also forgot to mention that He was tazed more than once. Seems that being tazed isn't the only abuse he recieved. How many people are sent the hospital because they dont know what's going on after they were tazed. Seems the Cunninghams were abused far worse than the "cops" who can't seem to get their story straight. It's sad to see such a good family treated so poorly when they were more than willing to cooperate with the officers.. Would be nice to see the media and the so called "cops" get the details right!!

Pretty sad that the media and the cops can't get the story right! It's a scary thing to know that you can't trust the law enforcement or the local news. How are we to believe anything that is being said or printed. I guess you just have to know the family. Great people, wouldn't believe for a minute that Justin or Rex were out to cause trouble and Justin as a girl beater is just out of the question.. Seems there must be more to the story. It's a scary thing to teach your children to trust law enforcement officers only to be let down by them.. Question, does being tazed cause memory loss? Seems being tazed wasn't the only form of abuse that Justin recieved. Who should have been arrested for assault? How badly was this "girlfriend" assaulted? Was she treated and released from a hospital? Did she have physical signs of abuse? All questions that seem to have no answer. I do not agree with assaulting an officer but wonder how such a good, stand-up person in our community could have been provoked to the point that he felt the need to protect his son?

I also think that the Mcdonald County finest should actually report the true facts if they believe what they did is lawful.
And the facts are Justin was tased 4 times and that is why Rex came to the defense of his son.... Afterall being tased once is life threatening so what do you think 4 times could do?

ARE YOU ALL CRAZY?!? WHY WOULD YOU POST PICURES OF THEIR SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS AND DOB FOR THE WORLD TO SEE?? COMMON SENSE PEOPLE!!!!

terrible what officers do these days tazed 4 times wow little trigger happy

WOW this is like a cartoon in the way it was described here, compared to what actually happened! Why; because the young woman who was asked to move out was screaming that her boyfriend had domestically abused her, the deputies jumped to her defense before they found out what did happen...little woman CRIED WOLF it sounds...
As a dad what would you do when the cops tasered your son right in front of you.
Also did you forget to mention the Grandfather an elderly gentleman was arrested, as well as Justin's mother?
This family, who 4 was arrested has never been on the wrong side of the law, they have never been arrested in their lives, grandfather retired government employee, the younger father and son work long hard hours everyday for others building or remodeling in the heat or freezing weather, what ever it takes.
I know as a parent, on our own property I TOO WOULD BE FURIOUS TO SEE MY SON GET TAZERED 3 TIMES AND RECEIVE A BAD CONCUSSION AT HIS OWN HOME. Are women calling out "wolf" too often because they know they can get by with it?
Guess men are going to have to start screaming "she hurt me, arrest her".
It is different had he been at her house, but he was not He Was At Home.
It is even sadder that ANYONE WOULD POST THESE MEN'S SS NUMBERS! HOW WAS ACCESS TO THEIR BOOK IN PICTURES AND SOCIAL SECURITY NUMBERS OBTAINED FOR THIS BLOG?
THANK YOU,
AUNT-E-e

Hey - Can you take these mugshots down or at least crop them? The photos show their Social Security numbers! You could be held liable if someone commits identify theft using these photos! Please take them down or crop them. Thanks!

Please you really need to crop these pictures. I hate for you to find out what the jail really looks like on the inside.

hey people you don't call the cops and wield a baseball bat no matter who you are. Id say keep your personal problems personal. The cops probably had better things to do than get the crap beat out of them over this kind of nonsense anyway.

Facts: A domestic assault is reported. One side is only obtained and there were no signs of physical abuse to the female. Deputy responds to the suspects location. Does he bother asking questions to get Justin's side of the story. Hmmm, only Justin and the deputy will know, but it's very doubtful. Was the deputies attitude provoking. Why yes. Oh yeah it's now reported the female made a false police report.

About the jail book in pictures with all their personal information that is available to the public. Well this just shows you what kind of idiots that are working in the McDonald County Sheriffs Office that would release the personal information for public view. This is a liability issue that will fall back to the shoulders of the Sheriffs Office. Go figure, they don't care.

About the subjects arrested. They are good people and for their information, hire an attorney out of Springfield or the Kansas City area to represent your cases.

This case is just another law suit on the books under Sheriff Evenson's command for the county.

i do know that the girlfriend did have physical signs of being hurt that there are witnesses to this incident. that the girlfriend was only trying to protect herself.

Protect herself from what? Her lies? She is worthless! She was just mad because she wasn't getting her way and her skanky friends talked her into telling lies. If she was truely "abused" and she has physical signs of abuse who saw them and where are the pics? Did she go to the hospital to have them checked out? Was her lesbian girlfriend the only on who has "seen" these "signs of being hurt"? Seriously, she is lucky Justin's sister didn't get ahold of her. Now that would have been abuse! I can promise had that been my parents getting arrested because of a lying drama queen I would have lost it and she would truely know what abuse is!
Just a side note, not all Mac County cops are bad. It's to bad that the one that responded to this scene happend to knock up some chick while his wife was at home pregnant herself. Now that is a quality person. Sounds like the kind of fellow I'd want protecting me. Let's get him out of the department! One last thought, if you are responding to a domestic assult case don't you think it's a good idea NOT to abuse anyone there let alone Justin's mother.

Pretty sure that she didn't lie on this one! Pretty sure that she is single! If Justin's sister were to do that, then that would just be one more Cunningham put in jail! My oh my, sounds like the WHOLE family could be physco!! How do you figure Justin's mother was abused? As far as I'm concerned a police officer (or any job for that matter) has the right to do anything they want when they are off the clock! If they want to screw someone else then let them! That's on them and who are you to judge? As long as they come on the job and holds the law then seriously who cares!

just reading through these comments. It seems to me that there are a lot of people out there who need to get their facts straight. When is it ever right for an officer of the law to resort to extreme violence to combat supposed violence? Was there a valid reason to kick a woman, handcuff an elderly gentleman to the point of severe abrasions on his wirsts, over tase a young man and send him to the hospital? Seems very extreme to me. As for the pictures, how would you like to have your personal information broadcast over the internet especially during this time when identity theft is so common. You should be a little more careful remember "what goes around comes around".

Rex Cunningham Sr & Jr,(Whole Family)These Tough-guys from Springfield,Mass.,are Longtime Associates of the New York-based Genovese Crime Family Who Specialized in Loansharking, Racketeering and Collecting Debts, and a Whole lot of other Illegal Activities.I See all These Comments how they are descent people,Nothing Could Be Further from The Truth. The Facts,"Someone Inside The Home" Called 9-1-1 to Report that Justin Cunningham,Had Assaulted his Girlfriend, Was Loading a Pistol and Was Stating That He was Not Going to Let Authorities on His Property. With that knowledge Deputy Daniel Gardner arrived at the Scene of the alleged Assault, Justin Cunningham Was Armed with a Baseball Bat and Refused to Drop It and was tased. It Seems This Isn't The Cunningham's First run-in with the law.If it was your Job to Respond to a 911 Call like This (Assault,Report of a Loaded Gun With Verbal Threats of Not Letting Authorities on The Property)How would You React when You Arrive at the Location and a Person is Wielding a Baseball Bat and Refusing to Drop it? Better tased than Someone being Shot.Futhermore How are Any of These Thugs Allowed a Firearm License with Their Backgrounds? With The Violence and Scheming the Cunningham's Are a Part Of.Luckily,The Deputies were able to Keep Control After Being Attacked By The father. There are Many Times You see This Same Type of Story But Things End Up Much Worse.Congrats to These Deputies for a Job Well Done!It Seems to Me They Used the force Needed to Gain Control of What Could have Otherwise Been a Deadly Situation, By a Family That Has No Respect For The Law or Any Victims They Have Left On The Path In Their Rise To The Road Of Riches!
