A Springfield woman was transported to a local hospital this morning with life threatening stab wounds to her chest and stomach.

Cops say an altercation took place just before six this morning at the Rancho Court Motel/Apartments on E. Kearney Street in North Springfield.
Authorities say that a 43 year-old man called 911 to say his girlfriend, who is also 43, had been stabbed.

When cops entered an apartment they found Jonathan Clark Collins standing near his live in girlfriend, Sheila Bailie, who was on the floor and appeared to have serious injuries. The female yelled to officers she needed help.

Clark, who was treated at a hospital for minor injuries, has been charged with first-degree domestic assault with injury. He is being held in the Greene County jail on $250,000 bond.

Springfield Police Investigate Serious Assault at 1544 E. Kearney

Springfield Police were summoned to 1544 E. Kearney #2, Rancho Court at 5:46 A.M. (9-30-09) in reference to a man stabbing a female with a knife. Officers arrived and entered apartment #2 and found a male standing near a female on the floor who appeared to have serious injuries. The female yelled to officers she needed help. The suspect was taken into custody and the female victim, Sheila Bailie was treated by EMS and transported to a local hospital where she was admitted in serious condition with multiple stab wounds.

The investigation indicated both the suspect and victim have been living together at apartment #2 and became involved in a domestic dispute when the assault occurred.

The Greene County prosecuting attorney's office filed charges against Jonathan Collins, 43, for first-degree assault and armed criminal action. A judge set Collins' bond at $250,000.
