The rumors are true, Dan Patterson made an official announcement today that he wants a job promotion. Patterson is seeking the Republican nomination to be Greene County's next prosecutor.

Patterson started work in the prosecutors office in April of 1996. He worked sexual assault and child abuse cases as he worked his way up to being named Chief Assistant Prosecutor in 2003.

As chief assistant, Patterson is in charge of the daily operations at the prosecutors office. He also sits first or second chair in major crime cases like murder and assault.

Patterson is a major in the Missouri Army National Guard, and recently returned from serving a nine-month stint in Kosovo. He is married to Jill Geary Patterson, who is also an attorney in the Greene County Prosecutors office; they have two little girls. Patterson also has a son from a previous marriage.

Darrell Moore is not seeking re-election because he hopes to garner the Republican nomination for the 7th Congressional District seat that will be vacated by Roy Blunt in 20-10.
