An Ozark dentist learned his fate yesterday for the May 2006 accident that critically injured a woman in Taney County.

Dr. Wayne Allai entered an Alford Plea in Taney County Court last April to felony assault and leaving the scene of an accident charges for hitting Cassie Trumble as she attempted to cross Highway 76 in front of the Ramada Inn.

By entering the Alford Plea, Dr. Allai does not admit guilt, but recognizes that the state has enough evidence to secure a conviction if the case were to go to trial.

Allai was placed on five years probation; he was also ordered to perform 200 hours of community service and serve 15 days of "shock time" in the Taney County jail that began yesterday.

Cassie Trumble also filed a personal injury lawsuit against Allai, however, that suit was dismissed in May of 2008 .
