Jury selection is set to begin tomorrow in the first-degree murder trial of a Douglas County man accused of killing his ex-wife's current beau last August.

Prosecutor Chris Wade alleges that James Hitchcock, 42, of Ava ambushed Wendell Hilhouse, 42, Branson, when he asked him and his ex-wife to help him move some cars.

Somewhere along County Road 335 Hitchcock stopped his vehicle and put the hood up. Thinking that Hitchcock was having car trouble Hillhouse and the woman stopped to help him. The woman says it was at that point that Hitchcock swung open the car door and shot Hillhouse two times before he dragged him into the woods and beat him in the head with a baseball bat near Assumption Abbey Monastery.

Hitchcock is also facing armed criminal action charges in the case as well.
