|Justin Scott Russell was charged as a prior and persistent offender|
A man from Branson has been sentenced to ten years in prison for abusing his infant last summer.
Prosecutor's say Justin Scott Russell, 33, pleaded guilty in December to covering the infant's face with a pillow and then tossing the baby six feet onto a couch for crying on August 1, 2011.
Russell's mother and the baby's grandmother witnessed the assault and called authorities after she left her son's house because she feared for her and the baby's safety.
When questioned at the scene, Russell denied any abuse toward the baby. At the time of his plea, however, Russell did tell the court that he was sorry for his actions toward his child.
Russell, who pleaded guilty to domestic assault and assault in January of 2011, was charged as a prior and persistent offender.
