Authorities in McDonald County are working a homicide in a rural part of the county.
Sheriff Robert Evenson says that a passerby called 9-1-1 at 4:01 p.m. on Sunday February 20th and said there was a man lying on the side of Gobbler's Knob Road near Powell.
When deputies arrived they found 67 year-old Jack McCain of Rogers, Arkansas dead. "I can't release the cause of death, but we don't believe it was accidental and he obviously didn't walk there."
Rogers is about 20 miles from where McCain's body was found and Powell is approximately five miles from the state line.
Southwest Missouri Forensics will conduct an autopsy at 1 p.m. autopsy to determine the mans cause of death.
Investigators from Missouri Highway Patrol are assisting the McDonald County Sheriff’s Office in the case.

Investigators say that McCain was shot more than once. Highway Patrol investigators continue to assist authorities in McDonald County and Arkansas in the investigation into McCain's murder.
UPDATE 08-14-13:
A man from Rogers, Arkansas has been charged with first-degree murder for the 2011 shooting death of a man in McDonald County.
According to the probable cause statement, Fred Bremer, 39, drove 67 year-old Jack McCain, also of Rogers, to an isolated area on Gobbler's Knob Road in Powell on February 20, 2011, under the pretense of helping McCain feed his animals. Once there, Bremer "shot Jack repeatedly causing his death."
Investigator's with the McDonald County sheriff's office contacted police in Rogers in assistance in locating Bremer, who is awaiting extradition back to Missouri. The investigation is ongoing and additional arrests could be made in the case.
Bremer is being held on a half million dollar bond.

I wonder what happened to Jack McCain of Rogers. Did he really commit suicide or someone else did him in?
I knew Jack, talked 2him a few months before all this. It's been a year and STILL no resolution 2this man's murder(s)...
The word is that he used to have more than one girlfriend and one of the females drove with him that day and the female shot at him and left him on the side of the road.
