A man from Crane was formally arraigned in Associate Circuit Court on charges of felony assault and armed criminal action and has pleaded not guilty.
Phillip Campbell says Marcus "Marc" Reel, 40, tried to shoot him, and when the pistol misfired he pulled a hunting knife and tried to stab him in the neck during the attack last month. One of Campbell's fingers was nearly severed when he tried to protect his neck, according to court documents.
Reel is in the Stone County Jail on one million dollars bond.
