A former employee of the Crane Chronicle has waived her right to a jury trial.
The trial of Janet Gilbert, 47, of Crane, who was charged with felony stealing in 2010, was scheduled to begin on April 25th. The next step in the case will be determined when Gilbert returns to court on June 13th to either resolve the case or have it set for a bench trial.
Gilbert's case was transferred to Lawrence County on a change of venue.

Gilbert and Pamalie Davis, 49, of Shell Knob, a former editor of the paper, were charged with stealing after more than $36,000 was discovered missing from the paper.
Davis is scheduled to appear in court on May 22nd.
