A 33-year-old woman from Mountain Home, Arkansas has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for killing the father of her three children over a custody dispute.
April D. Quick pleaded guilty in January to amended charges of second-degree murder and armed criminal action for the ambush shooting and stabbing death of forty two year-old Phillip Taylor, of Macomb, MO. Quick was originally charged with first-degree murder, armed criminal action and robbery. As part of the plea agreement, the robbery charge which stemmed from Quick stealing Taylor's cell phone, was dismissed.
Douglas County prosecutor Roger Wall says Quick and her friend, Aimee L. Herring, lured Taylor, who had not seen his children in over eight years, to a roadside park between Ava and Mansfield on September 10, 2010, to discuss visitation arrangements.
According to Wall, Taylor "had written a letter to April and demanded to see his children. He thought he was going to see his children when they murdered him."

Herring, 30, also of Mountain Home, pleaded guilty last year to amended charges of second-degree murder and armed criminal action for her part in Taylor's murder and was also sentenced to fifteen years in prison.
